The good news is (sorry Geico) if that election is any indiaction of the larger picture, we will have a religion category! WOO HOOO!!! Ok fellow sploofsters, how many of you were comfused by the ballot. lol BTW incase you can't tell I'm joking, well kinda

The polls seem pretty straightforward to me. I don't see the problem... ?

I'm sorry to say, Ron, that R & P is currently narrowly losing (yes, I voted for it)...

Well, I'm with Ronkon. I won't be renewing my membership if ANY categories are deleted, particularly the Bible and Religion.

I have to confess that when I voted in the poll, I voted to keep all categories except sport (because I hate sport). This was on a whim but now I think I was wrong to do this.

I feel that a trivia site just isn't viable if it starts excluding categories based on popularity and catering to some members and not others.

I visit a number of trivia websites and this is the only one I know of where this is an issue. I can't imagine the webmasters at the other sites allowing the members to dictate which categories should be included or excluded. The whole thing just seems wrong to me!

Sheesh, will this ever stop?

You'll be interested to know that I agree with you when you say that a trivia site just isn't viable if it starts "catering to some members and not others", especially when it's concerning religion. Which is why I and a lot of others feel the "Bible Trivia" category should go.

Funny how it's not "catering to some members" when it's a category *you* want.

I'll be glad when the polling is finally over.

My point is that I feel NO category should be excluded from a GENERAL trivia site.

Ladymaynooth, the polls show that the majority of Sploofus Gold members do not want the categories. While I voted "no" on Bible (it's exclusive to many members) I was in favor of the more broad "Religion and Philosophy" which would have included Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, etc.

While I think some members are going to decide not to renew based on the vote, the fact remains that the *majority* wants no part of religion on this general trivia site. If Sploofus wants to be fair (and wants to attract more users) it seems to me that he must go with the majority vote here.

The problem will be that even with a majority decision, some people will continue to announce that they are leaving or continue to belabor this vote here in the chat forum.

But hey, maybe if enough people complain and whine, Sploofus will initiate some more polls and we'll all get some more big points for re-re-voting. :D

The Bible quizzes are not being removed. So it is not really being excluded from this site.

My grandparents always told me never to argue politics and religion because it will only lead to trouble.....

Here is the thing. I like the Bible category a great deal. I voted to keep it. It is right that the Bible category should be removed from TQOTD though. There is no other category that is geared toward such a narrow segment of society. The fair thing is that it be removed, or a category be added for each different faith. Wouldn't that be a mess?! I have not given up hope on the Religion/Philosophy category. The polls are still open and the margin is very narrow. I am checking often and hoping that it gets added. As far as Sploofus allowing the members here to dictate categories, no one had a problem with him listening to us and compromising on the price increase. We, at least the gold members, pay to play here. Why shouldn't we have some say in the site? I will not always agree with the decisions made by the majority, but, I appreciate the democracy. I think Sploofus has always been willing to listen, and that is a wonderful thing. If you can think of a better way than polls for him to find out what we think, I am sure he would welcome the suggestion. I don't see there is a better way for it to be done. I would rather there be a vote, so everyone has a chance to be heard, than an arbitrary decision made to placate the loudest people (I admit, I am one of them) Kudos to Sploofus for always doing his best to do the right thing by EVERYBODY!
