Heads up. I lost many moves on an unfamiliar (to me) but accepted variant spelling. Drat! I kept thinking I must have mistyped what I THOUGHT was the only way to spell the word.

Hated that puzzle. None of it made any sense to me

Heads up - this was my worst point score ever (including Welsh Castles!). I found this puzzle next to impossible! How anyone could get it in less that 20 moves and keep most of their points is beyond my comprehension!

I guess it just goes to show we all have different areas of expertise!

I struggled through as the points disappeared. Guess I just didn't know anything about it and very few lucky guesses!

Although it may just have been because I did well, I loved this quiz.
a bunch of the words were indirectly linked to that excellent 'cultural literacy' set of quizzes ?lindyj? has been running. See I knew there was a reason to take quizzes!

But THANKS for the heads up about the misprint! (Its a very unusual spelling).
Saved me a bunch of guesses when I intuited that I had that word. See, I knew there was a reason to read BBS!

Good puzzle! This is the first time that I've had to leave a WP in the middle of it to deal with a mini-emergency somewhere else. Luckily it didn't take me very long, but does anyone know whether there's a time limit? Or does it just keep ticking until the next WP starts?

You can time out on the sploofus site. So the answer is yes.

I did pretty good, much in thanks to the spelling variation heads up. But I also ended up in a conversation on googletalk that I am sure doubled my time, at least.

Overall, I enjoyed...much because it was a break from the type-athon type. I like a lot of variation is lengths, types, etc.

I really liked this one - had to think quite a bit about the people referred to and frankly just got REALLY lucky on one of them because of the vast amount of words coined by this particular person - counted the spaces and thought - well which one would I have chosen - filled it in and hit enter and closed my eyes and got VERY lucky --

I reckon it's a combination of the job and my appreciation for verbage, but I liked it!

But I can see where its an acquired taste.

Knowing a couple right off the bat saved my rear end.

I'm with Rowlanda. Was really proud of myself as I guessed the first one with no letters used. after that pretty much used all the letters and quite frankly did not understand many when the word was complete-Linda

I only knew one without having to guess letters. The other 4 I stunk - really lousy score, but very informative and fun puzzle! Makes me want to do some research!
