My birthday is May 1st.

It is Law Day
It is Loyalty Day

It’s Beltane to the Celts – the beginning of summer when flocks return to the field.
It’s Walpurgis Night to Germanic peoples – a pagan come Roman Catholic holiday. England has a similar event called “Roodmas”
It’s International Workers Day (Labor Day) in much of the world with huge parades in many places including Russia, China, Sandanavia and India
Along with being Labor Day, parts of India celebrate it as statehood day
Along with being Labor Day in China, it starts one of three Golden Weeks with 3 days off work. It is also Youth (Children’s) Day.
Along with Labor Day it was a huge Soviet holiday with military parades in Russia and Eastern Bloc nations.
The French sell Lilies of the Valley on the streets as a symbol of good luck stemming from King Charles IX.
The UK has a “May Day Run” commemorating a run on the banks.

In the U.S. it is mostly kids on playgrounds skipping around a pole holding colored streamers like so many animate tetherballs.
