Hello everyone. I had the idea of writing a quiz with questions in the style of "Family Feud". You know - I survey 100 people and I give the top 5 responses then you tell me the top response. To make this idea a reality I need to know ...

1)How many people out there are interested in the idea?

2)Who wants to take part in the survey?

Post a thread here to voice your interest or alternatively send me a personal message and I will get started sending out surveys and compiling survey results. I hope to get 100 people to take the survey (as that's how they do it on the show), but I will be very happy if I can generate enough interest for 50 survey takers.

Please let me know what you think.

I actually think it sounds like a cool idea, but I don't know if it can fly because the SQAG says that everything has to be verifiable trivia. I would check out the legality first.

I wonder if it would meet the criteria
if it were listed under Word Play????

It would have to involve word play then.

I sent an essay to player support to see if and how I can get this one over the line. I'll keep all interested people up to date when I know something. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Just read your idea. Yes, like it. I am willing to be in survey if you can get it off the ground. Bill Sherman AKA Barnierubble

An interactive quiz sounds intriguing. Are you talking about doing player surveys and asking related questions, similar to those Billkozy does for CQs? Or will your questions involve the survey questions and answers themselves, maybe something like the new Drew Carey game show Power of 10?

Thing is, you have to have verifiable facts. Surveys done here on the boards won't work because too many players can't participate. And when the quiz is done, there has to be some way for players to look up and verify answers. If you can get over that hump, I'll play!

Thanks so much for the support guys. Not sure how I'm going to approach it until I get a reply from one of the editors. You'll be the first to know when I find out. Take care.

Yeah I'm going to go ahead and start surveying everyone that's interested so far and wait for the verdict. I'm starting to get a good feeling after just seeing one of Billkozy's community quizzes where he does a similar thing. So get ready for my survey ... And hopefully by the end of the month the survey results will be in and the quiz will be launched

Please don't share any of your responses with anyone else. It's our secret!

Thanks so much for all your interest. Kind regards, Rick

I believe it is plausible if the support team will allow it. Here is one scenario that may work:

You post the list of 10 questions for the survey here in the forum (maybe better in the Trivial Tangents forum), as all participants may not be able to post their desire to play.

Those who want to participate could then PM you or email you their answers to each of the 10 questions, as not everyone can respond in forum, but I believe everyone can read, and PM someone.

Once you recieve 100 responses post again in chat stating the survey is now closed.

You then compile the list with the top 5 answers to each question and create the quiz.

Then to make it verifiable you post the top 5 answers, and percentages to the questions on a free hosting web site such as photo bucket or something, and anyone who would like to see the full results can PM you again, after taking the quiz, and you can send them the link to the result page, and it is easy enough to see whether or not they have already taken the quiz from your my quizzes tab.

Forseen problems: No way to search results before taking quiz, no way to google answers for those who do it, and what if you only recieve 3 or 4 top answers instead of 5. Also once the quiz is launced it belongs to Sploofus, and the verifing part disturbs me a little, because what happens if you decide to leave in the future I believe your quiz will still remain, there would then be no way to verify it for future takers. This is just a possibility of how it could work, and I am sure there are many more.

Good luck with it, and count me in if it flies.

Wow this response is great so far! It's 2 am Fri morn so I'll get cracking tomorrow and post a survey in tivial tangents. Keep your eye out for the post. First 100 surveys to get back to my in box and the survey closes. Hope its as fun as it sounds in theory. Don't post your responses please otherwise I will have to disregard your responses for the quiz. Private message only please

Just one last thing, I've got so many super quick questions for the survey so far. How many are people up for? 20? 50? I guess I can always post 50 and that way you can do them all or choose your favourite 10, 20, 30 etc. I'm on to it.

Thanks again for the support. I love that you are all so keen

Kind regards

Ok ... I am still wide awake and I have decided - I'm going to post the survey in one thread, with several sets of 10 questions, each set with its own topic. Choose to do any or all of the sets. I have most of the topics chosen but if you have one you would like to see then by all means let me know in the next 12 hours. How's that sound so far?

Great idea. It doesn't really veer far from the "facts" that are a requirement. Agree Word Play would make the most sense but these could fit into so many categories. I vote absolutely "yes" and hope the editors do too.

Ok guys, I have to decided to secure all your spots in the survey queue as you have shown the initial interest and supported me here. Survey will launch some time today at the Trivial Tangents forum. Please do not post any answers there or I will not be able to accept your responses for inclusion in the quiz results.

All the best guys, be in touch VERY soon.

I am tired too, just finished all surveys. I love your energy, Rick,
Sorry for the spelling mistakes, just wanted to finish all questions and I do not know how to spell some proper names in the entertainment industry.

It was fun for me, lets have more stuff like this. Simon

My absolute pleasure! Anyone would think i was ON something! I've been working at this for so many hours straight now, I've only had 5 hours sleep in 2 days. It will be all worth it when you all give me 9 for my quizzes in recognition of my efforts lol Thanks so much for the feedback. No doubt when the quizzes are all finally written I will put out Survey2.0 at some stage.

Still no feedback from editors as yet to advise about format of the quiz part. Not a big issue any more. I'm having fun - are you?

Love you guys!

Survey is well and truly under way. I have received approx 1/4 of my goal responses. If you know someone who would like the idea then direct them to the survey I posted in the BBS Chat Trivial Tangents. Thanks again for your kind words of encoouragement and your keen participation ... TA!

LOL yep, pronounced (by some) as TAR. So far I've entered 30 splofusers' responses with another 10 waiting. It would be nice to get to 100 but I'll see how it's going this week and may cut off at 50.

56 responses in the first few days! Got to be happy with that! But now the responses are slowing down, so come on guys, tell one person each who has not heard of this idea and we will be able to close off the survey. Kind regards, Rick

Submitted my inputs ... whew! Hard work. LOL!

Have you thought about posting, like the top ten, of people with scoring like in Family Feud?

May get a lower "score" on a quiz (#Qs right), but get a higher score in percentages that way. More work for you ...
