PRIVATE QUIZZES

I created a sports quiz which I would like to keep private for an outside group, so we can track results. Is there a way to handle this? I have no problem with it being open to Sploofers eventually, or on a parallel setup. It's a generic Mets quiz.

The quizzes you create on Sploofus, using the Sploofus Quiz-wizard, belong to Sploofus and should not appear on any other websites.

That is really weird.

The Legal Notice says "Sploofus does not claim ownership of the materials you or any Subscriber may provide to Sploofus …". You have to read the whole thing to get the definition of "materials". It also says Subscribers grant Sploofus permissions and license rights to their submissions.

I know most of the Legal is boilerplate, but I was curious and looked at the Legal Notice of another trivia site. That site claims that subscribers grant "exclusive" permissions and licenses, "permanently and without restriction". The words in quotes appear to be added to the generic boilerplate of that part of the Legal Notice.

So, Sploofus owns the format but not the content of user-submitted quizzes???

Jeez....I could care less who owns them. You actually REQUEST linking people in and PROVIDE a link, and my friends would join Sploofus. I just want to know if I can keep it private, at least for awhile, so the group can have a competition without there being Sploofers in the results box.

this isn't some great quiz it is just Mets statistics.

I was not commenting on your post, Smaug. I've never seen any mention of a "private" quiz on Sploofus. If you created the quiz on Sploofus, just don't launch it until you want to.

I was just surprised that Sploofizz said the quizzes belong to Sploofus.

Smaug, I think think that is one of the changes coming with 2.0, but alas... not yet!

Smaug, you can probably try it, I just figure you'll get takers. It's a public site, and sploofus can't really stop people from taking your quiz.

My impression of the legal stuff is that sploofus does NOT own your individual content. If I'm reading it wrong, I gotta stop writing quizzes.

Okay, reread it: players DO retain ownership of their content, it's just that sploofus can use it any way they want to as long it's on the site.

Whew. A relief.

Oh yeah, and also: providing links is encouraged.

My mistake - I thought you wanted to post the entire quiz on another site before you made it live here.

I do not believe there is any way to keep it private. Although you could always write something in your description requesting that no one else take it until a certain date. No guarantees there though.

However, you friends will all receive an individual score which is easily verifiable, regardless of how many other people take it. The only statistics that might be different with "general public" takers would be difficulty level and rating. But I do know how you baseball lovers love your statistics!

I've made quizzes for my students here, had them all log-in and take them, and it worked fine, even though regular people took the quizzes too.
