this is an intense debate going on here in the basement of the alamo: who do you think would win in a boxing match between forrest gump and karl childers from 'sling blade'?

Forrest Gump of course! He succeeds at everything. (It might be an accident)

Forrest! Look at those fast ping pong playing hands! And look what he did to the Hippie Dude when he ruined the Black Panther party.

Forrest is my ideal husband. Doesn't say much, does what he's told, and he's rich.

Would Karl have his blade?

Gump by TKO - Karl would choke on Forrest's sugary sweet chocolates...
But then some heart-rending tragedy would occur to Forrest afterwards, leaving him alone, brave and philosphical.(But still annoying!)

BTW: try watching 'Pulp Fiction'and substituting the 'Gimp' with the 'Gump' - puerile but very funny.

no weapons - hand to hand combat.

forrest IS ex-military, but the only person i saw him fight was a pacifist hippie. any other time he was in danger, he would RUN. i don't even think he knew what was happening when he fired his rifle, only that it was making a loud noise.

karls' influences growing up at the 'nervous hospital' i'm sure toughened him up more so than gump. forrests grew up around his mama, and a girl that told him to run at the first sign of trouble

Yeah but look how strong Forrest was when he carried all of his army dudes to safety. AND he got shot and kept going. He's one tough mofo.

intelligence might play a role here. only thing i saw forrest reading was 'see spot run' type books. karl carried a small library around on his back, and was good at fixing small combustion engines.

Forrest was also blessed with an extraordinary amount of luck and the ability to change people's lives and therefore, history. The other dude seemed to be a rather sorry fellow with a defeatist attitude. I'm thinking that even if the playing field was equal here, Forrest's mad luck skills would come through for him.

i agree the white feather following forrest around gives him an unfair advantage.

Jusr got out of the hospital and watched Forest Gump. The only way Forest would fight Carl is if Carl hurt Jenny.

Of course Forrest would win..although he would say he was sorry a hundred times after he beat him.Of course his opponent would have had to threaten or insult Jennie before hand. Forrest Gump is one of the best movies ever made..the message is one of hope and NEVER GIVE UP!!!
