REGARDING THE BANNER AD

Because of the crazy banner ad, I missed answering the tqotd in 30 seconds or less.
my cursor jumps to the top of the page, and by the time I get to the question, the time has ran out.
It's a pity because this time, I knew the question it was music musicians
It said which group introduced Hotel California answer the Eagles.

I have noticed a big difference in the time it takes for each page to load and reload in everything from tqod to word puzzles even my command center. I really hope it doesnt get any worse. My poor webtv cant handle it.

I had the same problem of not being able to see all of the answers. I now go to full screen and this doesn't happen.

I know it is a bummer, but this is what we agreed upon so that we wouldn't have higher fees.

The next time we vote on something-i shall throughly think of the consequences.Right now i would have gladly paid the money to have the word rounds load times reduced..

Is anyone else getting the annoying popups? I can handle the banners on top, but popups are something that will make me go crazy. You have to figure out which screen to click on in order to answer your QOTD. Just one persons opinion.

I've seen the banner ads, they dont bother me, but I sure havent seen any popups....I dont think pop ups were ever part of the deal. Are you sure the pop ups arent coming from another website that you have open?
We all chose this route........maybe everyone is wanting to reconsider?

Actually I have gotten some pop-ups that my pop-up stopper isn't stopping.

I know that they are related to the new banners because I started getting them for the first time the day the banners began. And IE w/ Sploofus.com is the only site I'll have open when I get them. Thankfully, they don't appear with every log-on... I'm a bit baffled.

I have Norton Internet Security 2005 and Microsoft AntiSpyware. I have no pop-ups or banner ads. I do see I little flag every once in a while on the bottom of my screen indicating that it stopped something but I am use to that just being on the internet.

I've seen a few pop-unders, and they really annoy me... I also really dislike the new, distracting banner ads. This is the only site to which I pay a fee to be a premium member of and I *still* get pop-ups and flashy banner ads. Hmmph.

However, it's nothing that Firefox and adblock can't fix.

This only goes to show that we should be careful what we ask for because we just might get it.

Welp I missed my question of the day because of the ads. I really dont see the point in their placement. Take right now for instance, I would have plenty of time to pay attention the advertisement. But there isnt one there. Go figure! To be fair to the goldmembers AND the advertisers they should be more strategically placed DUH!!! Not on the most important pages where nobody is going to read them no matter how flashy or annoying they are. Put em on the login page put em on the quizzes page put em here in the forum but keep them out of my TQOD! Dont put them where they can only cause chaos! come on sploofus whats up with that?!?!?
WTH ever happened to customer service and keeping paying customers happy??? keep in mind that if you keep running people off, You wont have anybody to advertise to. then what.? eh who cares anyway?!

Try downloading the google toolbar--toolbar.google.com. It should block most of the pop-ups. On occasion one sneaks through, but in general you're free from them.

These pop-ups have cost me a lot of time on my tqotd questions, and I even missed answering one in under 30 seconds. The banners don't seem to be doing anything. But I remember the discussion that we all had, and I thought that it was agreed that banners should not be on pages that we needed to load quickly in order to score points. Why isn't there a banner on this page, where I have plenty of time to read it and may actually do so? And I specifically remember everyone requesting NO POP-UPS. My software blocked two, but I still got two more just trying to answer my tqotd!

They probably put the banners and pop-ups on the screens that the majority of the people would be going to daily like TQOTD. We have the banner but not the pop-ups and the banner isn't a big deal just makes us have to page down sooner on WordRounds.

Well I can only speak from my own experiences and The banner ads have definately affected the time it takes for each page to load. most of the time its only the banner that shows up and The clock is ticking while the rest of my screen is blank!
This is beyond annoying for me. I am seriously dissapointed.

Sorry Magnolia....I certainly didnt mean to offend anyone...I just meant that this is what the vote turned up and perhaps we are ready for a revote now that we see how exactly the banner ads effect the site. I hope I didnt upset you, my goal isnt to stir up trouble.
