WHAT IS PERRIANN DOING, 100% ACCURACY UNDER 50 SEC.?

I have gone to a number of quizzes on subjects of interest to me, all over the map-sports to baby boomer movies, etc.- and how is this person Perriann, supposedly a young girl from Alabama, scoring 100% and usually taking less than 50 seconds? Really detracts from the fun of testing yourself in these quizzes.

Well, with all due respect what does her age/gender/location have to do with it? Maybe she is just really smart or has a photographic memory.

I agree with redwingchick...what does her age/gender/location have to do with anything? Are you saying because she's from Alabama that she isn't smart? Are you of a mind that all Southern people are dumb hillbilly rednecks? If you are I resent it!

With all due respect back, please do not distort my question into some kind of ethnic, regional or gender attack. It may be that you folks are reacting to the regionality of my own screen name and assuming the worst from a yankee. Perhaps. I would like to not assume that you are doing so. I was simply availing myself of the forum to pose a question and I simply added the only profile info I saw on this person's page. When one person is scoring 100% (on a variety of esoteric topics) while the other quiz takers are in the 60%-70% range, and no one is under a minute, then it certainly walks and talks like a duck. In the few months that I have been using this fun site I have had a number of polite interractions with quik makers, when I have spotted errors or misspellings, or the like. And the returns have been equally polite. So I hope we can refrain from regional stereotyping, and only respond to the substance of my query.
Thank you.

Goomba, I wasn't trying to be disrespectful. I was just asking. I also offered suggestions as to how she did it. My BIL has a photographic memory and remembers everything he reads practically verbatim. She seems to do alot of entertainment quizzes. Maybe that is her forte. I know it is mine. I watch alot of TV and my brain retains alot of useless crap. Maybe hers does too. Oh, and I am a yankee too (with paternal roots in the south)so that had nothing to do with it.

Hi NY

Perhaps by adding Alabama in, as opposed to young girl, this added addition appeared to have been regionalized....while you might have said a young girl from New York as well - it probably came across badly.

I went and clicked on the profile, and it's listed as 25?? At young girl, I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I didn't expect the age to be over 20.

One thing I've learned at Sploofus is to never say never. There are some quite brilliant people here and I've learned a lot - the wonderful thing about it - is that I've find, often time in my "real life" I find myself to be probably the smartest person around (or very few on level) - so I know when I first joined Sploofus back in February of this year, I found myself not only NOT the smartest person in the room - but sometimes the lowest on the totem pole!

If you feel like something "unethical" is going on - you should report it - just like with people you might think are WP cheaters - and let Justin deal with it.

People have been wrongly accused, and feelings have been hurt badly - so that's the safest thing to do -- and while I know how tough NY women are - have you ever seen Sweet Home Alabama? That's about what it comes down to in defense

Have a good time here on the Island

I think the original poster is way out of line in saying that a young lady couldn't be scoring 100 percent in 50 seconds on quizzes. That is sexist and ageist, and demeaning. it is mean-spirited, and ignorant, and unenlightened, and close-minded. It is not up to the politically correct and progressive opinions discussions I have come to expect here.

But then I saw "Alabama" and I'm like, ok, no freaking way there isn't cheating go on here.

So, thanks for your vigilance Newyorkgoomba! Some of us citizens are behind you 100 percent! In 50 seconds!

Well.....it is an indisputable fact that the population of Alabama, on average, has a lower IQ than the population of New York. That might not transfer to this scenario, or be a comfortable notion in Big Rock Candy Mountain PoliticalCorrectVille, but....fact.

From the refresher on each page below where I'm posting this (scroll down to read the "refresher")

* Statements which are insulting, bigoted, hateful, racially offensive, disrespectful of any ethnic group, any religion or religious group, disrespectful of any nationality, nation, or region of origin, disrespectful of any gender or sexual orientation, or which endorse or advocate illegal or immoral activity;

* Statements about any other subscriber or the employees of any subscriber;

* Statements about SPLOOFUS or any employee of SPLOOFUS;

Obviously, many of these don't apply to Happy Birthdays, or way to go's, or any of that kind of stuff...

Look, I'm just busting chops here mostly, but variations in state IQs are an undisputed scientific fact, just like school performance ratings.

There was a hoax internet email following the 2004 election that had the red states at like an 85 IQ and the blue states at 105 or whatever. That was a hoax. But there have been serious studies done since then. It's just a scientific fact, nothing prejudicial. It certainly doesn't mean the the rocket scientist population of Huntsville is dumber than the crack addicts of the Bronx. Or that some 25 year old woman in Alabama couldn't be a prodigy. It might mean if you randomly selected 10,000 Alabamans (sp?) and 10,000 New Yorkers, and had them play Jeopardy, New York would win 99 percent of the time. I don't know, I'm not a statistician.

Here's one link. There are many if you google, just watch out for the hoax ones I mentioned before.

Personal opinion is those that pick at each other - have gotten to know each other a bit and those people know when it's "good fun" This thread was started out of the blue - in an accusatory manner and how this person "Perriann" spoiled the fun. By doing a quick search for posts or participation by "Perriann" nothing is found...she's not posted, and can't even stand up to defend her Alabama roots - or her intelligience - or integrity. I wasn't even trashing the statistics - the general statement of the original post was this person spoils another person's fun...get a grip.

I love reading the banter between some of you guys - as I see Carly Simon trashing James Taylor (whom I met - he dated my mom's sister for a while - and from what I could see Carly was right on) - oh shoot - based on what I just said I need to find James' email address and invite him to come defend himself....sigh - can't win for losing..never mind.

New York no disrespect was meant in my posting a reply to your message and I apologize. Your remarks just hit me the wrong way in the reference you made about perriman being from Alabama. I am from Tennessee myself but it felt like you were making reference to all Southerns in your post that we are not intelligent enough to do a quiz in under 50 seconds and get a perfect score. I, myself have done quizzes in under 50 seconds and scored 100% percent so, it can be done.
Again, I apologize.

The player in question has taken one of my quizzes and got 100% in 30 seconds or so. The quiz is rated (currently) an 8 in difficulty.
I have no problem with accepting that some people are fast - and accurate - as lightning when taking quizzes. (Anyone playing a WR at the same time as myself, Rach66 and others who can break 12 and 11 seconds understands this!)
I had noticed this player's name atop other difficult quizzes and decided to test myself.
I took my own quiz, albeit when in the 'Your Quizzes' section and not actually the same way as others playing it would. Knowing the answers in advance, - and speed-reading the questions as I would a WR - I still could not better the time.

Draw your own conclusions.

One does wonder how much your average inhabitant of Alabama has of 'Scottish League Teams and Their Nicknames' (100% in 40.98s!) and 'Scottish Football Grounds' (100% in 33.57s!). At least three Scots and two Sassenachs couldn't get near.
Hate to say it but I've drawn my own conclusion and something doesn't ring true, but its only a game, unless you are Bill Shankly.

I do think the biggest problem with this thread is the original post. If someone has SPECIFIC accusations against an individual player, rather than do it here publicly and using their name, they should report it to the head honchos. Whether the player in question is cheating or not is for Sploofus to decide.

For those inclined to know, Slicko is a cheater. I have no actual proof, I just think he must be to have all those points.

BTW, I am from Texas. I do like the occasional Long Island Iced Tea....

Also, high IQ is a good thing, I'm sure.... But I think Texan's are generally "smarter" than those of New York City. After all, we are smart enough to live in Texas, and not in New York City.

Btw, contrary to popular New York City belief, "Rude" does not equate to "Smart".

Finally, so what if she cheats?

Can't for the life of me why anyone cheats on this site, it's points not money, people. Cheating on regular quizzes for such a paltry amount of points is even crazier. For the few who persist in cheating on the Word Puzzles think of this. Maybe that player you just knocked out of the top 10 has been trying to get there for months, even years. And maybe they've been going through a really bad patch in their life & could really use a lift. Now are those piddling extra points worth it?

This is not a criticism merely an observation. The fact that a person can get 100% on quizzes of all types from movies to Bible trivia is not strange, What is strange is that the person in question is still at level 1.0. That is more than two months without attempting one TQOTD. I am going to send message to this woman.

I took the quiz in question. It has fairly long questions and the answers are NOT possible to discern by scanning, as there is a twist at the end of them. For experimental purposes, I read them quickly, and just stabbed at an answer and moved on.

My time was 110 seconds.

While I did not like the way the thread was started - the "research" shows that indeed this is most questionable.

Hope she takes my phobia quiz - so far there is one person that aced it - and I wrote her cause it blew my mind - I took several months to write it - working on being clever and all that - but I knew she wasn't a cheater and she explained that she had actually recently participated in the subject matter at a pub (I think that must have been VERY funny!) - I think it would be VERY difficult to cheat on my quiz - or some of these others without having secondary accounts and going and taking them - then taking them under another account - Going to have to go take some of these other quizzes now - dang got my curiosity up -

I'm thinking we need a new squashing with Justin's hammer of justice on WR/WM's to alternate with the turd bug squashing - a hammer coming down on a cheater character - that'll make all those WR/WM cheaters and robot players think twice !!!
