Sorry about the job, but good luck to you on your job search. Now you have a chance to find that perfect opportunity that is out there waiting for you. You know what they say; "When a door closes ...". While job hunting, be sure to look around and see if they have good computers so you can play Sploofus on the job!

Don't forget to search out working from home. My daughter loves that and her husband works from home as well... Try Craig's List and good luck!

So sorry about your job Mandy....it's scary for a while
Then it's liberating!!!! The World is your oyster....
Time to think outside the box....

When I was unemployed I put up a Poster. It said
"When your basement is flooded....Go fishing!!!!"
(Man with his pants rolled up, fishing in his basement)

Another poster I had was....
"Expecting the World to be fair,
is like expecting the bull not to attack
because you're a vegetarian"

Do you have a pic of your old boss (Christmas Party?)
that you can use it as a Dart Board!!!!

Rita, I'd never heard of Craig's list before, I've checked it out.

Rowlanda, the picture as a dartboard sounds like good therapy, sadly I don't have one.

Sorry about your job. Being unemployed is scary. But I've usually found that something better really is out there, you just may not know it for a while. Don't know if that's much comfort. One time I didn't lose my job but I might as well have - it was horrid so I quit. I knew I would have to move, had no where to go and truly as poor as you can get without being on the streets. I ended up moving to where I am now, went to community college, and found a good job, far better than anything I could have had if I had stayed where I was. So... have faith in yourself; you'll do just fine. You have all of us cheering you on.

Mandy ... Don't let the lack of dartboard hold you back. There's always rotten tomatoes ... dog doo doo ... be creative! LOL

How about a quiz that really lets us know what a jerk your old boss was.

Ooops. I already did when I wrote my Pet Peeves CQ. LOL

Hang in there, Mandy!

Lodi, that may be the best suggestion yet. Mandy, get that quiz written - I'd love to take it.

Thanks for your kind words guys, I wasn't very happy with that job anyways so in the grand scheme of things, it is probably a good thing. A proverbial kick up the bum, so to speak. I'm doing a childcare course at the end of this month, will see how that goes.

I'm so sorry for you. You seem to have a great atitude. When one door closes, another opens. Go for something that truly makes you happy! Hang in there. There's lots of people who care about you here.

Hang in there! This too shall pass and maybe just maybe the next job will allow you to play Sploofus while at work! See, there is ALWAYS a silver lining.

Will keep good thoughts for you - we've been through these ups and downs this year ourself - my husband can be an obstinate person - and I think "SOMEONE" is trying to get his attention before his kids are grown and gone because he sure doesn't listen to us - I wish you the best on finding that new door that I know is waiting for you.

I was going to gripe about all the people taking my new quiz and tanking it that have never written a quiz - but that would make me shallow in light of your circumstances -- thanks for the perspective and let us know when you find your new door!

Mandy,

I was laid off from my job in 2003. Applied for hundreds of jobs, rarely getting even a courtesy interview. One morning I woke up and decided God had given me a gift, and the best thing to do was enjoy it. After that, I modified my attitude and lifestyle, declared myself retired, and have lived happily ever after. Of course I'm a lot older than you and had a gainfully employed husband, so I knew my food and shelter needs would be me.

I will pray that your perfect job will find you when you need it most. In the meantime, I hope you will have an opportunity to enjoy the freedom of spending your time discovering and doing what makes you truly happy.

Best,

Brenda

Yes...I had no husband, but agree that is one of the
benefits of unemployment....the time to really think.
MANDY, I do hope that you will keep us in touch with
how you are doing.

I lost my job, my car, my entire way of life after Hurricane Ivan hit my island, I honestly don't believe everything happens for a reason, but 9 months later, and several short term jobs that I was fired from, I got a job I love, keep on truckin' you're just in a temporary slump. Cathy

Brenda, no husband (or partner) as well as no job, who knows, I might find one of those too!
Cathy, I'm so glad that things have improved for you.
Rowlanda, I will post if I have any good news.
