PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE MY QUIZZES, BUT KEEP TAKING THEM.

I fully understand that there will be people who don't like my quizzes. What I don't understand is why they keep taking them and then writing me really unpleasant notes. For gosh sake, please just don't take them. It really is kind of hurtful to read some of them.

Some people have nothing better to do than to criticize others. Sorry this is happening to you. Just try to brush them off...that person doesn't speak for the rest of us.

That is totally disconcerting AND NOT needed. I am so sorry this is happening to you. I have also received some of this joy...someone even had the audacity to pan a quiz that had even gotten an editor's award (I was rather proud of the quiz, it took me a long time to put it together). I just always write back and thank them for taking the quiz. I refuse to stoop to their level or let them get the best of me. Hang in there and try to consider the source. Maybe they are even jealous! Marsha

Thank you all for being so kind. Time for me to ignore it and move on. I guess raising the little Smaugettes will keep me too busy to write quizzes, so that might be a blessing in disguise. Maybe we can name one of them Snake.

I have found that when I have a quiz that gets a nasty review, the reviewer normally has NEVER submitted a quiz of their own.

I have also noticed they are typically impotent and/or copulate with a goat.

Also, their parents typically aren't married.

There is a particular author, a very nice person and of interesting topics, but whose style of quiz writing I just do not care for. I have PMd this author regarding the reason for my concerns, and, despite a positive reply, this author continues to write in that style. I don't want to be more specific than that, other than to say that some of the quizzes in question have won EAs, which IMO didn't think were deserving. So what is my point? I guess that anyone can write a quiz in whatever style he or she wants. But also that an EA is not carte blanche for univeral acceptance, and that the volume of words nor quantity of information does not in itself qualify for an award. "Well written," to me, means informative, challenging, and cohesive. And also to say that I no longer take quizzes from this author, which goes back to the original point of the post. Our choice as Sploofus members.

Ever hear the phrase "If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all?" Might wanna try that. If I take a quiz the only time I ever comment in a non-positive way is if there is a glaring error like the facts are wrong, etc. Then I will KINDLY let them know. However, I have rarely had to do this. Otherwise, why criticize a quiz for personal reasons?

And just another comment to add (Yes, I know it has already been said, but bears repeating)... I have the hunch that those who don't do well for any odd reason can rate a well-written quiz poorly. Oh, well...

Yup!!!! I agree with everything you said Redwingchickie....
People take time and trouble to make up quizzes - and I try to always say thank
you when I send a comment....
It's unfortunate when I have done poorly....sometimes the author thinks I'm being
sarcastic, and blaming them!!!! Couldn't be further from the truth!!!!

Not quite sure to whom the above posts are directed (ostensibly at me), but any comments I make via PM are almost always accompanied by a thank you, and any corrections or suggestions are delivered in only the most gracious of manners. I am always welcome to read comments and suggestions about my own quizzes as well, positive or negative.

Sorry you feel that RAEL....my own remarks were entirely general!!!!
Would dream of putting YOU down or deprecating any opinion of yours....
I even SUSPECT I know who the author is....and agree with you....

If you believe someone was directing their comments at you - you could
PM them and clarify the situation????

'Scuse my curiosity, Rael61, but about this author whose quizzes you don't like the style of - you seem to feel that since you've written to them a few times stating why you don't like their quizzes, the author should by now have abandoned their own personal style of quiz-writing in favour of whatever style it is you prefer? (and yes, you did say that!)

Well, you are entitled to your opinion, of course, but if you don't like that author's quizzes, then why take them? There are enough quizzes on this site that I'm sure you can find someone who does write in a manner you like.

Also, another point you might like to consider - for every message of disapprobation from you, that author may well have received a dozen or more from other takers congratulating them on excellent quizzes which they thoroughly enjoyed taking. Your opinion is not necessarily the majority view, or even one held by anyone else but you.

Variety is the spice of life - and it would indeed be a boring life if we all only liked (or disliked) the same things. I say, live and let live - or quiz and let quiz, as the case may be!

"Quiz or let quiz" is a great line. Well done. As stated, anyone can create a quiz in whichever style he or she chooses. And, as also stated, I do not take this person's quizzes anymore. Comments I sent were well delivered and well received. That's all I can expect. Whatever else transpires is up to personal taste.

Shame on that quiz writer for not bending to your will, Rael. It is the height of inconsiderateness for them not to change as you requested, even though I'm sure you told them in your most tactful manner.

I glanced at your quiz list and there isn't one quiz that would interest me; however, I would never write to you and say to change your subject manner, nor would I bad mouth you to other players, bomb your quizzes or exhibit any other uncouth expressions of displeasure. Variety is what makes Sploofus fun and there is something here for everyone.

I have observed a few players who exhibit a degree of schadenfreude (yeah, go look that one up), either in an editor's goof, a mistake in a WP or berating others for writing, what they consider in their eyes, unacceptable quizzes. To all who display this degree of pompousness and lack of gentility, knock it off.

There is NO Club Smaug.

Nope. Not at all. No Super-Duper Cool Kids Club Smaug with a cigar bar and flat screen TVs and awesome indirect recessed lighting.

nosirreeee....put that out of your mind.

It's not over there down those basement steps, so don't even look there. That is the LAST place it would be.

And if there was one, hypothetically, there certainly wouldn't be a stripper pole in the corner for eeseabeje....easeab....whatever, we call her "Easy".
