I remember about three months ago someone posted the query as to when the ideal moment to post a quiz would be.
My answer was that it appeared the ideal moment was "a minute after I'd posted one'.
I just saw one of my quizzes had gone live so I checked the most recent 30 list. It was already almost off the list having gone live an hour ago; 13 quizzes were put up in the last 60 minutes!!
The editors are too **** efficient!

I'm finding there is no precise way to gauge how long a quiz will have to wait before going live. I launched a quiz early yesteday and there were 35 ahead. It sat until late afternoon today, and its now near the bottom of the recent list. Other times, with 35 ahead it's just a matter of a few hours.

I guess the ideal way to figure out how to launch a quiz when there are 29 quizzes behind the one of yours that just went live. I'd really like to have some kind of counter showing how many quizzes have been launched and are in the queue waiting to go live at any given time.

any holdup on quizzes

The turnaround has been so impressive in getting the quizzes that I'm surprised I've been number 26 in the queue for 24 hours.
Any reason for this, Sploofus?

And we know which editor is responsible. Don't worry, we should have a new supply of medication by Tuesday.

I edited and released your quiz, Garrybl, and then I and other editors reviewed and released several more waiting in the queue behind yours, plus a few resubmitted after corrections. The queue is now empty except for returned quizzes. As editors' time is variously limited, we edit when we can and try to keep the queue short and easy to manage.

One way to help yourself increase your exposure is to get a quiz or two ahead, with one in reserve ready to launch as your quiz drops down the page. Of course, if a second is launched while the first is still on the list, the new one will replace the older one and your name will move back to the top of the page, but the older one will still be accessible in your 5-quiz drop-down for the duration of the new quiz's time on the list.

It's very hard to strike the right balance between those who would like their quizzes edited and released quickly, and those who want a lengthy stay on the front page. It seems that authors of the first persuasion immediately become the second as soon as their quizzes go live. If only we could launch them within the hour of submission, and give them several days in the limelight at the same time! If players would only organise themselves and refrain from submitting 30 or 40 quizzes in one evening, it would be so much easier to have the queue proceed at a steady and stately pace.

I'm kidding, but it's true that the speed of release is related to the number of submissions at a given time, and dependent upon the availability of editors. We expect all of this to become irrelevant in the near future with a substantial lengthening of the list.

Maybe instead of the

"30 Most Recent Quizzes (per author)"

make it

"Most Recent as the World Turns (per author)"

Keep every released quiz up in view 24 hours. The page window length is not fixed, and some days the list will be short, some days long. When the number of Editors doubled, I saw about 60 quizzes per day released, but some of those probably included quizzes by the same author, and the sub-menu would shorten the page list.

Don't know what it is now, but the author would have the quiz on the "front page" for the same amount of time as anybody else. And, as a viewer on the lookout for quizzes I want to take, I think it would be nice to see what moved the world the last 24 hours!

Sploofanatic, I'm concerned about the last paragraph of your post. "...the speed of release is...dependent upon the availability of editors. We expect all of this to become irrelevant in the near future with a substantial lengthening of the list.

My initial thought after reading that was the possibility of no longer having editors in 2.0, resulting in a longer wait-time for quizzes to go live. I hope that is not the case! I for one appreciate the assistance of the editors and the truly enjoyable contributions to and exchanges among them in chat (i.e. supply of medication by Tuesday.)

Justin...if you're reading this, please don't axe the editors (well, except for the few that didn't appreciate my infinitely clever quizzes)!

Fear not, Maurlin, editors are here to stay! I only meant the list showing new quizzes will be longer, giving more quizzes longer exposure.

I am CERTAINLY one of those who appreciate your quizzes! Thanks for your kind words, it's always nice to feel needed.

I wasn't trying to appear to be complaining.. at least not at the editors efficiency which is REALLY appreciated.
More making a joke about picking a bad moment to launch a quiz.

The editors are great. Especially since there appear to be more of them than new quizzes hitting the board. Maybe we need a few more. Only because their numbers are to big to be classified as a clique and not yet enough to be called a Country Club. At least they already have the Superiority Complex part down. Wishing a great weekend to all. God Bless Our Troops.

And can you, can you imagine FIFTY EDITORS! I said fifty people a day walking in, editing a quiz or two and walking out? And friends, they may think it's a movement. And that's what it is. The Sploofus Island Anti-Queue Movement.
