SHOWDOWNS

Ok...I've HAD IT. The next person that challenges me to a showdown is gonna get it.

Since we can opt out of TQOTD categories, can't there be some sort of "Stupid People" button we can push that only lets other stupid people challenge us to a showdown? All these damn predators out there just chomping at the bit to challenge those of us (and OK, I may very well be the only member of this club) that are not as bright as the rest of you brainiacs.

Just fair warning...voodoo dolls are being made as we speak...WAYNE.

Me.

DEAR ME! SINCE I BECAME A MEMBER IN APRIL I HAVE BEEN CHALLENGED 4 TIMES WON TWICE, AND HAD TWO TIES, BUT THE FIRST ONE SCARED ME TO DEATH, THEN I THOUGHT WHAT THE HECK HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE AND MAY GAIN SOME EASY POINTS. SO JUST KEEP CLICKING AWAY AND SHOW THEM THAT YOU ARE STRONGER OF MIND THAN THEY ARE. BESIDES YOU MAY HIT A LUCKY STREAK. WINDDANCER41 AKA CHARLOTTE

Dear Chick,
Tried to Challenge you to a Showdown, but "THEY" wouldn't let me!!!!
Thought it would be an easy way for me to earn 700 million plus points
Especially because you said you are stupid....
and I am too....we would have been evenly matched....

Hey Chick, I agree with the stupid button, too. Wasn't there talk about selecting a (and agreeing on)category when you challenged a player or am I wrong? Keep the Chicago spirit going.

Hey Chick - I checked out your profile. You'll be miffed to know that my winning percentage is even lower than yours - so you cannot claim the stupid prize.

On a totally divergent note - your kids are absolutely adorable! AND they even look like they like each other! So, you've won the biggest showdown of them all -

OMG...I just compared our Showdown results, and I am 5 percentage points LOWER than you. I caught on to MY poor performance quite a while ago which is why I have, at this very moment, 100 Showdown tokens wasting away.

And, Mom, I am even lower than you. Of course posting that in the may REALLY make me a target, but it also explains why I have 120 showdown tokens left, as i do not think I have ever used 1!!

currently, i have over 100 tokens. no one need fear a challenge from me though.

i can't see taking the risk of getting a category i know nothing and then risk my hard earned points on it. i think that's double jeopardy.

my victory percentage is in the low range and so is my speed but i will answer as many challenges as i can.

i get that giddy rush every time i manage to win one..

isn't sploofus fun???

I don't mind the challenges since I don't lose points, but if I feel the urge - I check out the stats of the person I will be challenging - lately it's only been people who are proficient in all categories, have an astronomical sploofus rate - so I have many tokens - I just hate when they are sucked away - been trying to rally up a few more points in wr's lately just to get my gumption up.

I get irritated with some of the questions though - I know the last challenge I had I knew immediately and punched immediately - I thought it was rather obscure to boot - something like 5 (hang time) secs and the other person got it faster...dang slow fingers and dialup!!

chickbref, I'll give you a stupid people button, if you can give me a slow connection button so I can win a showdown with my webtv speed.

I just lost another one to "your answer was correct but XXXX was able to answer it faster than you." That's how it goes for me almost every time. I hate showdowns.

They should go till somebody misses, so time isn't a factor. I feel guilty beating someone on speed when they have average times in the teens.

Now I'm getting depressed here - I started checking out profiles, and, so far, I have the LOWEST Showdown record of any I have checked. Don't know why I started reading this thread!

I have 84 tokens and will probably keep them! Out of the 11 loses I answered 10 correctly but was too slow, the other one was my first and didn't reply. I have only had 3 wins and 8 stalemates. I'm sure I have earned the SLOW button so pass it over. LOL

I wasn't specifically referring to % showdown wins, as I consider them PURE LUCK.

Luck I got a question I knew the answer to (unlike my usual questions, "If a feather is launched from a rocket ship with the velocity of X +7Y and the ship is carrying two tons of plutonium, how long does it take the feather to complete three entire orbits around the earth and land safely back on the damn duck's back").

Luck that I actually didn't screw up and hit the wrong answer by mistake.

Luck that I did it faster than the brainiacs.

I have yet to figure out the exact formula for my "Stupid Factor"...but trust me, I'm Prez of that club on this here island.

Me.

Chickie,
That's easy. 4 days, 21 minutes and 3.785 seconds, assuming that there is not a monsoon in the South Pacific.

Yep, I've had a surge of showdowns against me here lately as well. Unfortunately, life has been completely crazy here lately and usually by the time I get around to checking my TQOTD and showdowns I've already lost because they have expired. *shrug* The craziness has to stop sometime....it can't keep up like this for much longer. It just can't....there has to be a break in the madness soon. Meanwhile, I'll just tape up my "Easy Showdown Challenge" sign and go about my merry way because honestly, loosing a showdown is the least of my concerns right now. But I may need to get one of those voodoo dolls later.

Why do I never seem to be the one directly below any of you who never do showdowns? I use all of my tokens--although I have lost more than I have won lately. (It's only points, after all.) And nobody ever challenges me--I think I have only been challenged once since I started playing.

For me, it's like playing the lottery. I get a little rush from the anticipation that I MIGHT win. (I never win the lottery either, actually.)
