First of all, I don't want to discredit the Sploofus Staff, but I've had issues lately. Ever since I lost a large amount of points because I was told that by "definition", Snooker was a sport. Not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, I am about 60% in my TQOTD answers. If I feel that a question wasn't fair or worded right, I have been questioning Sploofus and asking for a new question. Like fighting city hall, I usually get turned down, but why not try. My recent complaint was that a word should have been capitalized to get the correct meaning of what they wanted for an answer. My question to my fellow Sploofusonians is am I right or should I try basket-weaving?
P.S.: If any of you writes quizzes, how lenient are they with you.

you know .. when i was a child and whined about something that my grandmother considered trifling she would tell me to hold out my hands. then she'd say 'spit in one hand and wish in the other, see which one gets full faster'. i learned pretty quick that whining wasn't going to accomplish much.

s-P-i-t...ugh. Now I know why I got a detention when my teacher told me she wished I'd sit down and be quiet.

I think you are right, and you should try
basket-weaving, when the editors aren't
fair, when you take/write quizzes....
Take care, Rowlanda XXX

I think we should build some signs and picket in front of Sploofus Hall.

When you think something is wrong, please continue to ask about it. But we also ask that you not get too upset when we don't agree with you. We have to decide whether the problem is large enough to have made the question totally unfair or incorrect. If the problem is not major enough to invalidate the question completely, then we may decide that the playing field was at least level enough for all players who received the question. In that case, it would not be fair to issue do-overs just to the ones who complain. The system is not perfect and in many cases it's simply a judgment call. But as in any trivia contest, the judges get the final say.

We are keeping track of all TQOTDs that have complaints about them. Unless the author is a current editor, however, we do not have a way to correct them. Justin does have it on his to-do list, but it is not his top priority at the moment.

Not always being correct or judgement calls does not always make a question acceptable or sometimes fair. Being unable to get points lost or level points is what hurts a player's standing.

What hurt your standing was getting a legitimate question incorrect. C'mon! Suck it up, big guy!

Repeat after me:
It's only a game.
It's only a game.

I know how you feel. I once lost big on a B&A question about a book I had never heard of, losing the maximum amount of points and level points. I topped the all time losers list for several days. It took me four or five months to get back into the top 100.

But the amazing thing is about questions you miss is that you often actually learn something from them, but rarely anything from the questions you get correct. Now I know a book and author who I never knew existed and have subsequently seen this author mentioned several times in numerous places. Haven't gotten around to reading the book yet, though it sounds kind of up my alley.

Of course blowing that B&A question was nothing like blowing a question on Jeopardy! in front of the whole country and for money. It's been 10 years and I still remember every one I got wrong quite vividly.

I'd gladly trade learning something new from a question I miss in exchange for learning nothing and getting credit for a correct answer. I've got no burning thirst for new knowledge since my short term memory isn't working too well these days and I'd probably just forget it anyway.

If you're not a legitimate whiner does that make you an illegitimate whiner???

Is 'Legitamite' anything like 'Vegemite'?

No, but I hear that Legitamy is illegal in 38 states.

In life we have to choose our battles. The question, which only YOU can answer, is whether or not this is one of the battles you are going to choose.

Wow, I thought they quit showing up like 6 minutes before the end of the rounds to prevent expired bling rounds.
