I always thought that TQOTD was selected at random from the various categories. Lately, though, I'm starting to wonder. At least half of the questions I get are in the Music and Musicians category. Not only that but Music, in the questions I've been getting, appears to be limited to stuff about 30- or 40-year-old rock albums featuring performers I've never heard of. I wince when I see that category show up yet again.

Ever since the days of Disco i.e. for the past 2 decades,
I feel there's very little music going on !!!!
So I cringe when I get that category too....
wonder if anyone is happy with it ????

Shall I pass my opera question on to you then? How about the ones I get that refer to all the different parts of a choir. Or where the little known composer from the 1800's happened to be born. Those are the ones I get when I decide to wager. That's when I feel my heart sink to your toes because I was hoping for something from an 80's rock album.

So're saying you are happy with it????

Physical Science, anyone? Had four of them last week. Used to have it blocked so you can imagine how thrilled.

That was a rhetorical shriek. No need for anyone to post how many vocab questions they've had lately.

My last Music question was classical. I've seen all types. The fun thing with these nine broad categories is you never know ...

The music category is my best. All the rest of them are my worst.

Smoke- I certainly haven't been getting your Vocabulary questions, or mine either. They're the only ones I wager on, and I haven't seen one in quite a while. Maybe they've all been used up. JUSTIN...write more Vocab!!!

I have chosen MUSIC to be my exempt category as I am a real dolt in all areas there-lately have had a rash of geography questions-sometimes I make a lucky guess-most often not. I agree hat there is a real shortage of vocabulary questions-Linda

Actually, the categories are pretty even at the moment. There are the most Potpourri, followed by Vocab. The rest of the categories have about 7 or 8 fewer questions.

At the moment, the TQOTD database has more Vocabulary questions than any category other than Potpourri. Still, all nine categories are within 20 questions of one another.

OK -WHO is getting the vocabulary questions???

Not me, looking for those as well. I keep getting sports, probably because I had it blocked for so long. On the music category, I've only had about two questions in the year I've been playing on bands I listen to or would know something about. I know a lot of people here don't like the rap questions, I don't listen to it much either, but they give me hope that I might get something modern. Anyone ever see a question on punk music or one on modern rock, like Linkin Park or Rob Zombie or anything? Love to get one of those!

In Life....never say what you wish for
because someone is out there listening
so they can make sure you don't get it!!!!
In our case "someone" is pesky editors....

My knowledge & Favorite is in the music area. I rarely get a TQOTD "Music & Musicians".
When I do it's some ancient question about music I know nothing about and of course I miss the question. But yet A sploofer freind of mine always gets the type of music questions I would be able to answer. I cant even get a category proficiency badge in Music. But!!!! I got one for "Sports Soup & Movies & TV". I don't know much about sports. and just 80s stuff mostly on tv. I want music..... waaaaaahhhhhh!

You're wrong Rowlanda, I asked and recieved a question about Radiohead that I got right! Finally, maybe they were listening.....

Need you to be more specific than that !!!!
Who did you ask - and did you ask in CHAT
or get a Support Ticket to ask????
And how much does it cost,
and where do you send the cash!!!!
It's not nice to GLOAT and keep the
secret all to yourself!!!!

Perhaps the word "ask" is stretching the truth a little, I whined and complained in the chat forum about never really seeing any questions on modern rock and that very night like Santa Clause bringing a present I had a music question on modern rock waiting for me. Of course it COULD all be just one happy coincidence, probably was. Feels good to gloat though!

Stouty - I'm thinking our wires have gotten crossed. Yet again today I'm blessed with the Music & Musicians category. Another (to me) totally obscure question I'd be delighted to pass on to you or anyone with sufficient knowledge of the rap/hip-hop tradition. What would they charge to assign me to Totally Permanent Potpourri?

How about some Music questions that have somethinkg to do with classical music. Someone upstrean offered their opera question -- I'll take it. The Music category seems to have a very limited range.
It there is a majority if Potpourri question I sure don't know who's getting them.

Not me! I'm loaded up with all the Physical Science questions again!

so that's where the 'physical science' is going... well all the 'world events' have been showing up here... with an occasional 'geography'.

i think there is some sinister little spybot that alerts that random thing-a-ma-bob when we wager on a certain category not to issue any questions in that category for at least a lightyear. it's a conspiracy i tell you.. a conspiracy plain and simple.

Next to Sports Soup, I like Geography. Only trouble is that half the world changed there names since I did navigation. It is nice to see that everyone in this group is almost as happy as I am.

I HATE THE PHYSICAL SCIENCE questions...HATE HATE HATE. Really, who cares about the atomic weight of an atom with a quadravalent of 4 in hyperspace? Who?

Ok...since Jeremy got his Radiohead question...WHERE'S MY JOVI QUESTION?

Oh..and pass me all the movies and TV questions you don't want...I'll be glad to hand you some physical science ones..

PMBill...didn't you sail with Prince Henry the Navigator?

My worst subject is rock music...I actually do better in sports. Carreau, you can change your Music category to something else and never have to play it again. It seems whatever you wish for some diabolical turn of the screw makes sure you get several questions, sometimes in a row, on a subject you hate. I've had so few geography, physical science, vocabulary, world events, etc. Almost every day it's music, sports and TV - I'm getting really ticked off.

I started keeping track of my TQOTD categories a little over a month ago and these are my top 3 winners(?): 12 Physical Science; 5 each of World Events and Books and Authors. Potpourri was the lowest with only 1 question. Vocabulary, my favorite, had only 3.

I guess it will eventually average out, put who knows . . .

I have had only two (yup, count 'em TWO) Vocabulary questions in the past couple of months! How can I win wagers if I don't get my favorite category often-enough??

What is the atomic weight of element BJ, Bon Jovi, and what is the weight of his atomic isotope used for his reduced big hair in the movie UB541?

You are ALL proving the point I made yesterday....
Dont tell ANYONE here what your best categories are
They're all paid spies for the pesky editors....

Music, Vocabulary & Movies are my best and had the badges for all three - the music has been so bizarre I've blown them lately and my badge for Music went away.

Two levels past and no even a single Physical Science question. I am saving all my wager takens for them. All Physical Science haters, would it be nice if we could just exchange them?

What a bunch of whiners.

My last seven TQOTD questions have been on computational quantum mechanics.

And if you didn't know anything about computational quantum mechanics
we'd be hearing all about it....right Smaug????
KAELIN, I didn't know the badges could just go away!!!! I'm having a
hard enough time making them appear at all....

Gee...maybe I'm lucky not getting the only category I wager on, with all of the wrong guesses during the wagers. I guess that old saying "Be careful what you ask for. You may just get it" may be true. But still I'd like a chance to blow my wager token too.
