My cousin Gussie and I are going through this problem. We have called everybody in law enforcement, local and federal, that I can think of. We are working on the problem, but I thought some of you may have some suggestions that we haven't tried. I have called police, postal inspectors (who have taken a report on the national level, not responsive locally), local DA (bwahahaha-in New Orleans, remember), BBB, and US attorney's office (the only semi-positive call). We went to the bank, changed accounts. My cousin is 78 and has never had a check bounce in her life. The money was returned by the bank.

2 checks that were mailed for utilities have been stolen and used electronically for $1010.00 of merchandise from a national company. The company and Telecheck were notified, yet Telecheck continues to try to get this from my cousin. We have an attorney, letters are being sent out, but I hate to sit on my hands.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Claudette

If this is an improper forum or request, let me know.

Good luck. Several years ago, I had my purse stolen and several of my checks were used at area businesses. The bank, although informed, accidentally let one through, which they promptly refunded to me. The others were refused by the bank as forged checks. Letters and phone calls to the businesses who took the checks were not heeded. It seemed that they didn't care they took forged checks and only wanted their money back. It finally took meeting face to face with some of the owners of these businesses, showing them all of the police documentation, a copy of the forged check they took without asking for proper I.D., and a letter from the bank, that they finally backed off.

BTW, the people who stole my purse were never caught.
