WHERE HAVE ALL THE PRIZES GONE?

if i'm not mistaken, one of the 'perks' of 'going gold' was the possibility of prizes. i realize membership is relatively low but shouldn't that have been factored in prior to promising something that isn't being given or received? just curious.......

Due to legal proceedings and legislature in a few U.S. states, Sploofus has temporarily suspended the $10 Amazon Gift Certificate prizes. The possibility of winning prizes was never a "Gold" benefit, and the prizes will return as soon as Sploofus is able to be in compliance with various laws in several states which govern prize awards for online games.

Thank you for your understanding, and please continue to enjoy Sploofus for what it is - trivial entertainment for the whole family! I will post updates on the status of prizes as soon as I can.

Thanks again!

Most of the problems the place has had recently (plagarism, etc.) can be traced back to people lusting after those prizes. It's amazing what people will do for $10. Seems like there is just as much fun here without them.

Mindmonkey...I agree wholeheartedly. I like prizes and won some for quiz writing and such, but if all it takes to quell the cheating and bickering is backing off on the prize wagon, then I am all for it.

Justin (and everyone at Sploofus). Just a thought, why not have a Quiz of the Month Competition judged by an Editorial panel with a bonanza award of points. Personally, I would prefer this award than an Amazon voucher.
Your comments would be appreciated.

Not only that, but instead of giving the gift certificates for 1,2,and 3 places in each division, give points. Not that i would ever get any-maybe a majority of the members would like this better??

Another idea would be to give credit towards a gold membership... I certainly don't do it for the award...I am just obsessed

I like the idea of credit toward Gold Membership. At a minimum, it will keep folks coming back to Sploofus since they're Gold, and may get lots more gold members who may not have been willing to pay up front, saving Sploofus from shelling out for certificates.

The Gold Membership is something that was suggested before and got great response. I would love to see that happen and it might give the Great and Powerful Sploofus a loophole around all of the stupid legalities. Good idea-- hope he looks into it!
