For the past few months I've been reading that many Sploofus players have an abundance of Showdown tokens (including me). Surfing around Sploofus profiles tells me the reason why. There are few players with victory percentages over 50%. Accumulating up to almost 100 of these tokens (like some players) shows me a lot of dedication and support to the Sploofus site. I would like to suggest that every player gets a TQOTD for each token and a wager token for every ten correct answers. The points for the correct answers would just be added to the players regular standings. We are not playing for prizes or money, just points. Why not reward us with points, they're free anyway. If the Sploofus system would allow, maybe we could choose the Category.

Just an idea XXXOOOXXX Liam

I love showdowns (but am careful about who I challenge!). I think the original point of showdowns was to encourage interaction amongst members. This is the only game here where you can actually test your powers of trivia one-on-one. I don't understand why folks are so loath to use them! It's not being mean to the challengee, since they risk nothing.

It might be a challenge, going one on one, but when you get that Sploofus message you do get tense and tighten up (at least I do). You don't know what the category is or what time you have to beat. I usually try to go to fast and blow it.

so far i have won all 15 of my chalenges but on my profile it says diferent because i have 4 matches going on right now so it takes away my percentage untill i have lost which i havent ( yet)

you raise an interesting question; go fast or try to be accurate?
What is the right strategy?
I have no idea myself; it takes too long to try to work out if a question is 'easy' --go fast! or hard -- just try to get it right! As a result i try to do it too fast too, i must admit.
What do others think?

I think too much rides on just one question. I wish it could be at least 3 questions. I hope we get tournaments someday and can play against people other than the ones right next to us on the leaderboard. Kaufman and Fookie scare me.

My problem with showdowns is that I almost ALWAYS get beat on speed. My only hope is that the other person gets the question wrong entirely and, unfortunately, I'm up far enough on the leaderboard that they just don't miss questions. Even the ones where I don't have to ponder and know immediately I seem to lose on time. Even though I seem to hit the answer almost immediately. So why on earth would I risk losing points by using my showdown tokens? At this point for me, its a lose-lose situation. And when I see that message that someone has challenged me, I feel sick.

Losing a showdown because of speed is lame. Give both players the same amount of time, if they both answer correctly or wrong, it is a stalemate. Why should a person's intelligence be based on if someone can read quicker or has a faster computer. You either know the answer or you don't. I feel much more gratified if I win by guessing correctly, and the other person gets it wrong, rather than winning, or losing due to speed.

I agree with Rocco. Allow 20 seconds and reward correct answer, stalemate if both correct. I always question the speed of word rounds, matches and puzzles. A Sploofus billionaire sent me instructions on how to get faster. One of the instructions told me not to read the question, just click (DUH).

Yes....I too agree with Rocco and Liam....the
result should depend only on getting the
correct answer....too many variables involved
with beating the times....
And we have CHAT to "interact" wih each
other....for better or for worse!!!!

Liam....I think the "billionaire" meant to SCAN the questions on the WRs and WMs,
rather than taking the time to fully read them....
I rather like the idea of having a "best of three" questions and/or calling a draw
if both of the players get it right....

Rocco, I consider that a good idea and have suggested it before myself. Every time I did, I was jeered at and knocked down and pummeled and kicked; but I still believe the only fair way to have a showdown is to have the person who answers correctly be the winner. If both are correct, there needs to be another question; if it happens 3 times then a stalemate can be declared. Maybe when 2.0 comes out we can ask for a poll. Until then, I'll be hoarding my 128 (as of this week) tokens.

One misconception about the percentages on the Showdowns is that it ISN'T wins vs Losses.

It is wins Vs Losses and Stalemates.

So, you could have MANY more wins than losses, but Stalemates skew the #'s.

I personally would like to see Stalemates treated as a non factor in percentages...

Even more so, it's Wins vs. Losses and Stalemates AND Unconcluded Challenges.

I hear that if you save enough of them you can buy the ceramic dog on Wheel of Fortune.

(seriously dating myself on that one)

Hey Vannahrosannadannah, some of us don't like ceramic dogs and other various knickknacks. What are we supposed to do with them then?

I would like to be able to trade them in for wager tokens or trade them with other players for various things, like points. We were just playing Monopoly on Nintendo and we were exchanging property for property, property for money, money for get out of jail free cards, etc. What if we could exchange our wager tokens & showdown tokens to other players for points, or showdowns for wagers, or whatever. Or what about trading showdown tokens for perpetual immunity from that player. We could have ALL KINDS of fun with it.

Sure, it would be a programmer's nightmare but I'm sure Justin has nothing better to do.

This is why I make the big bucks,

Wheel of Fortune would be a LOT more
