ANYONE EVER TRY OUT FOR A REALITY TV SHOW? I've officially lost my mind. My friend and I are trying out for "The Amazing Race"...which has auditions in Chicago in a couple weeks.

I know they look for "personality", but the application kidding...16 pages long.

If anyone else has ever tried out for one of these kinds of shows, or knows someone who has and can give me any pointers (I'm sure we're all well aware that I'm not an introvert and usually say EXACTLY what's on my mind), I would appreciate it.

Oh...and if you give me pointers, and I get on the show and then I win the $1,000,000...I AIN'T SHARING.

They don't just want personality, the want conflict. Or at least the potential for conflict. That's what makes people interested.

I would never make it - I'm too nice.

I had to look to see if Smaug or Texlewee were on Sploofus now ... otherwise they would never let that last line go without a comeback comment!

I would never be able to come up with a snappy comment because I know the statement is true. (They know it too, but they can't resist the temptation to "pick" on you a little.)

Speaking of conflict on the show, I think it's a father and daughter team that I wish someone would push the mute button on the father.

I just hope you haven't got your heart set on it. Sorry, but I can't see them choosing a sweet-talking, mild-mannered, lady-like Chickie, such as yourself

So.... while Chick is exercising, she can chant
I am a B**** and Get out of my way A***-hole
and Eat my Dust, so she gets used to talking tough.
Also, she has time to practise eating BUGS without barfing!!!!

Hey, Chickie,
Try this link above to a podcast from June 2006 from Marjorie and Michael Carrino (I believe they're from Cleveland). They do podcasts on "Survivor" and "The Apprentice." This particular episode was an interview with Susan Vaughan who was part of a mother-son team on The Amazing Race. She talked about how they got on the show and lots of behind the scenes things. (If you have an iPOD you can also get this through iTunes, look for Armchair Survivor and go to the archived list and click on the June 12, 2006 episode.)

Hope this helps.

This is THE day for auditions - which, as far as I can tell, consists of a 2-minute interview with a cameraman and filling out your papers correctly.

At any rate, how about a group cheer for Chickfbref1 and her friend?! Good luck!

Just glad it wasn't me. She's been trying to con me into doing that for about a year now.

She did seem a bit nervous when I talked to her last night. I hope it goes well.

Hey guys!! went well. There were a BAZILLION people, some from New York, Detroit (I rubbed it in that I only had to travel 2 miles). We were #52 in line (we got there at 6:30 and they started at 10:00.

We did our 2 minute "White Girl Rap" was pretty cute if I do say so myself (even the lady from CBS said so), you all know I love the poetry/rhyming stuff.

There were still people getting into the line when we left at 11:30...told them it took us 1 1/2 hours to get taped and we were #52...they were on number 400 and only taping until 2:00 "should we wait"....ummm lemmme think....NO.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed...thanks for the good vibes!!

I hope ya did well, Chick. I don't usually watch reality shows but if you were on it...well, I'd even learn how to use my DVD recorder to save the show for posterity. My husband would be beyond pleased! Good luck!

p.s. I need your autograph now before you get too famous.

You're ordinarily pretty rotten, hopefully you kicked it up a notch for the tryouts. Good luck, don't forget the little people who helped to ruin each and every one of your days before you became famous.

Yes, Amazing Race ... I really like that show. Except this one now I'm having trouble finding anyone I really want to cheer for. But maybe that will change.
