Bar patron might check a little closer next time

Lewiston man says he was tricked by transvestite; wallet gone

No word on if they drank champagne that tasted like cherry cola, but a Lewiston man called police early Friday morning after learning he'd taken home a genuine Lola.

The 29-year-old man, described by police as "highly intoxicated," called Lewiston police at 3:37 a.m. to report he had discovered the woman he'd brought to a 21st Street hotel room was actually a man.

Their encounter began earlier in the night, when the man told Lewiston police what he believed was a 21-year-old woman started becoming "extremely friendly" toward him at the Alibi bar in Lewiston. Police said the man had been part of a group of people drinking at another bar earlier, but the group reportedly moved to the karaoke bar on the 1700 block of Main Street.

The couple got a room at Inn America on the nearby 700 block of 21st Street, according to police. The man told officers he was too intoxicated to drive home from the bar.

Police did not divulge how the man determined the woman was a man, but investigators said the man told the person to leave after discovering his true gender. He then called Lewiston police.

The intoxicated man, who has not been named by officers, was described as being in an upset state following the incident.

Officers initially told the man the transvestite committed no crime, but responding officers later determined the man's wallet had been stolen during the encounter.

The wallet reportedly contained $20 in cash and two credit cards, police said. A Lewiston police investigator said potential criminal charges could range from misdemeanor petit theft to felony criminal possession of a financial transaction card, depending on the outcome of the case.

The unidentified suspect is described as an American Indian male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 300 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Police did not immediately identify what the person was wearing, but investigators did say a store night clerk also believed the alleged suspect was a woman.

Lewiston police are continuing to investigate the incident. Police could not say if the 1970 song by The Kinks that chronicles a romantic encounter of a man and a transvestite, "Lola," had played on the bar's speakers earlier in the evening.

I would think that the fool would be too embarrassed to call the cops. What a fool!

I met a 150# Indian woman at a bar in Wichita Ks. Next morning I was ready to join the tribe. Now she was ALL woman. No mistake about that.

As well you should be, Smaug. But I'm sure none of us will tell anyone else so your secret is safe with us.

And Donden, didn't anyone ever tell you it isn't polite to kiss (etc.) and tell!? One more thing, that Murray on your profile page is gorgeous; there is deep wisdom and character in those eyes.
