To All
On a showdown challenge is your, or your opponents "CATEGORY EXEMPTION" still in effect. For example of your category exemption (if chosen) is "Books and authors" you can you be assured that category will not be used for the showdown question?

Good question-I'd like to know too. My exempt category is music-don't recall ever getting any of those but I almost never challenge and am seldom challenged.

That is a good question. When you are in a Showdown, you don't get to see the category of the question like you do in a TQOD.

I can't always tell what category a question comes from, just by looking at the question.

Anyone know the answer to Spacecat's question?

I don't think it still is in effect. I swear I've had eight million science showdowns even though it's my blocked category.

According to the help page:
"You and the challengee will then be given a random Sploofus question from the challengee's current game play level."
If it is random then all categories are included.

Thank you for all who took the time to respond. I believe Sargon has the answer and Jeremy has experienced it. BTW Science is my exempt category as well.

It's been verified, had a TQOTD in my blocked category today.
