HERE SHE COMES...

The delivery is being induced at 37 weeks because my daughter has been getting a little hypertensive and pre-eclamptic, and the pitocin has been dripping for about 16 hours now. They finally got the damn epidural to work right, so I don't have to hear her cry and moan any more. All of a sudden she's fully dilated and the Ob is gonna have her start pushing in maybe a half hour or so. Everything is looking good for a successful arrival of my daughter's first baby, a little girl, our fifth grandbaby. Thought I'd take a break on the hospital wi-fi and see what the latest Sploofus kerfluffle is, and thought I'd drop a note about what we're doing today. My son-in-law ("briannauta") will be a father soon, for the first time. This is one of those amazing moments in life, never to be forgotten, forever magical. Stop and send 10 seconds worth of good vibes toward us here in central Indiana for the well-being of my special peeps. Everything looks fine; every little bit could help.

Thanks. Gotta go now. I'll let you know how everything turns out.

Good luck, Doc!

I like that rjenson guy. He's pretty funny if you read back over his posts.

My wife had full term twins and went into the pregnancy at 5'6" 103 lbs. She looked like an anaconda that had eaten an antelope. They OR was filled with hospital people just because it was so incredible.

That vagina thing is an amazing organ, man. There should be a super hero, like...Vagina Woman, or something.

Just woke up and read this. Congrats to the family! In 2 days, my son and daughter-in-law going through same situation with the one and only child they will ever have (and the only grandchild I'll ever have) due to mom's health - this child is the miracle child they've always been told they could never have. So talk about vicariously - I practiced with you for the big day! Christmas babies are the best! Tiny stars over the hospital, huh?

I hesitate to mention this in your moment of family joy, but as a fair warning from a father of three who was stunned by this after the birth of my first child, I feel compelled to tell you that the personal hygiene habits of newborns can be absolutely appalling.

Congrats. I am glad all is now find and on the wind down. Having been married to a surgical nurse, and being acquainted with many of her co-workers, I know how stressed you had to be. You know all of the issues, and have seen them. They are impossible to get out of your mind. Sit back and sip a single malt like Laphroaig or a Pampero Rum Aniversario dark rum.

Lyla and I have gotten to know one another a bit this afternoon, and I must say she's a keeper. Everyone's had some sleep, and they scraped off all the schmear in which she arrived, and I got a picture of an old fart with one of the newest people on the planet. It's posted.

Oh jeez, Ron, I wonder if she will be a Parrothead! Congratulations... the worst day of my life was when my daughter had her firstborn... I was absolutely terrified, petrified and had diarrhea! When I discovered daughter could do it the next wo weren't so hard on me. And wow, are grandkids ever wonderful!

My husband passed away November 15 and I am just now beginning to get my brain back. My 5 grandkids kept me sane, loved and cared for me. Two of them helped Bob breathe his last breath. So nourish your cherub... you, too, will one day need her!

We had a 4-day picnic celebrating my husband's life. The grandkids were the star performers and kept us insane!

Congratulations to you and your family, Ron...what a beautiful girl! Looks like she sure lucked out in the "grandpa department".

As part of my job as an MT here in New York, I transcribe from 10pm-6am several nights a week for a hospital in Indiana so I was definitely with you in spirit last night ...wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday and a happy, healthy New Year.

And Rita, I am so sorry for the loss of your husband. I, too, lost someone very special in November, my favorite most beloved Uncle...extending you my deepest sympathy.

Lyla is so adorable, Ron! Lovely photo. I'm very sorry to hear about your mom and sister, but at least people who participate in walks like this are doing their part to help find a cure. And Lyla brings a lot of happiness and uplifting spirit to an otherwise sobering subject.

Thanks for the update!
