And you think your electric bill is bad, check this out...

Go to the video link on the page and you'll see what they've done the last couple of years. Only an engineer would do this...

That's American consumerism and gaudiness at it's best...God love 'em! They even outdid Clark Griswold...still the funniest Christmas movie ever made!

Wow, that's tasteful compared to some of the stuff we have going on around here. I've got a little list - and on a clear night we will make the rounds.

If you've ever been to Frisco, this won't surprise you a bit. It is disneyworld for shoppers (plus all the present and ex-Cowboyz that live nearby - Deon's palace is there). Square miles of strip shopping and bronze longhorns, horses and wagons, and art - great place for family pictures with all those in the landscaping. The sleepy little town that became the most expensive real estate in the country practically overnight. Definitely worth a trip - for more than just the light show!

Jank, I had to laugh at your description, it's spot on. If you drive up Preston Road through Frisco to Ponder (another sleepy town that's starting to boom) you can't miss Deon's place.

My father was superintendent in Frisco many moons ago. He had an opportunity to buy some land on Preston Road AND didn't do it. God love him........he has been gone for over 20 years but I would still like to kick him.

This reminded me of another display I saw. I was amazed I managed to unearth it from the Internet, and to read its recent history.

Thanks, Tuzilla. I had forgotten about this family. Wow, it is like an attraction at Disney World. (i wondered what i'd feel like, if i were one of their neighbors...hmm)

These places are beautiful to drive through, admire, etc., but if you're the neighbor, do you jump into the spirit of things and say I'll enjoy it, too, or do you put on sunglasses and hunker down?

i read that some cities have passed ordinances to ban these displays due to traffic and safety concerns. i guess they have a point in some areas, but it's a shame to restrict these beautiful displays.

Hey Pep & 1mks - my son used to cook steaks at the "famous" Ponder Steak House (which I'd never heard of till he and his wife started working there). Did you see the Cowboy game where the guys were commentating from the restaurant? Oh - I worked for 3 months at a house off of Preston Rd. with all the construction turning it into 6 lanes from 2. Man - 20 minutes from light to light became 3 minutes - never so glad a road opened! Just around the corner from Deon's palace is Randy White's little place - the same house he owned years ago - never felt the need for a bigger place just because he could afford it - a really nice, down-to-earth guy!

He seems nice. He used to have a barbecue place in Frisco. Not sure if it's still there.

No - it's been gone 2 years (I think) now - I think there's a gas station on that kind of triangle spot now. I loved the Cowboys paraphernalia all over the walls.

In some areas of England, we have entire streets lit up:

We will have that. Our neighborhood does a luminaria every year.
