INTERSTING SPECULATION

Mean no offense by this post as it includes some of my favorite folks. Just have been here some time and have speculated on who might be the editors. The ones I believe for sure are Bigbird, Kaufmanm and Vicrowe (kindest person I know). The "iffies" are Maurlin, Pepperdoc, Allena, and Smoke although Smoke is pretty outspoken to fit there. Swiper might be one as might Surreyman to represent "across the Pond". Lynmm should be as she is so very smart but is most likely too new. As I say, some of these are among my biggest supporters and among my favorite people-a couple are not sigh... The ones I would bet my life are NOT editors are you, Tex, and Smaug. Until you "out" yourselves you have to expect speculation-Linda Also speculate that Niknak one of my favorites quit when the decision was made to eliminate FITB quizzes-her forte.

Forgot Saragon. He is ever so kind and used to write many quizzes but has been keeping a very low profile--miss him editor or not-Linda

Do not mean to cause trouble-just believe tht I and others would appreciate knowing the folks who are judging our work-as I said love many of them dearly-Linda

Wow. I'm honored (i think) to be speculated (is that the proper use of a term?) as an editor! Nope, I'm not. But I would love to have a crack at creating a Word Puzzle. (I suspect it's probably harder to do than it seems.)

(If editors-to-be have to pass a typo exam, I'd flunk...sad to say)

On second thought, if I said I was an editor, would this mean free gifts, fawning and bribes under the table???

I'm in!

Linda, did you create this thread thinking that somehow you would throw off those who suspect you are, in fact, an editor?

With my lack of typing and computer know-how would be ludricrous of suspecting me of being an editor--do wish I had those skills and at least could have been asked to join the "secret socirty"-Linda

I don't think any of those listed are editors. Why? Because they are too noticeable every day...they are doing the word puzzles, word rounds, etc. None of the editors would be doing that. They are merrily trying out the "new" beta version. I know of several that "used" to play these games all the time and they are no longer around but their names are still on the leader board which leads me to believe that they are now editors. Just a thought. Basically, I don't care to know their identity. Honestly, what difference does it really make?

I think its just to throw us off her trail. Linda's quizzes are well written and very articulate. Hmmmm........

I suspect Eesusbejesus might be an editor and if Revdodd isn't, he should be.

OK, I've been outed. Please send any bribes to my Paypal account and the quizzes you launch will definitely go live eventially!

BTW, I feel honored to be included in the list. Thanks, Heidi/Linda.

!mks-forgive me if I say you are naaive-won't be as callous as to say obtuse which is my first instinct- Editors play everytng from WR, WM, Wp to quiz authoring. If they were not enthusiastic, they would not be editors. When Justin responds, I know who he is a bt but the editors are phantoms hiding behind aliases-let me know at least a bit about who I deal with-Linda

I've suspected every moderately literate person on the site at one time or another, and been accused a time or two myself, but when I've given it any thought I supposed they were mostly the old-timers in the top 100 that you never hear from. I think the job itself would drive you underground eventually unless you have a real knack for duplicity.

I actually applied for the job way back when. There used to be a want ad on the home page for paid editorial positions, and I submitted an application. A lot of time passed and I never heard anything back and just figured 10th-grade dropouts don't get editorial positions, no harm, no foul. Can't feel too busted up about not getting a job that never actually existed. When I mentioned it to Justin when we met, he had no memory of ever getting the application, probably lost it in a massive email purge.

I don't think I'd apply for it now. Not unless the money was REALLY good!

Well....my point is that the system is set up for anonymous volunteer moderators.

That is a good system, free, and you have enthusiastic people who are in here anyway to keep an eye on stuff. As long as you don't have volatile knuckleheads (like me) with authority, it should be okay. But that has to be monitored....people get puissed and things get personal and even calm people can become knuckleheads on an issue.

I don't think editors should by lying and denying, but that is just my morals -- ya gotta pay me to lie. And they definitely shouldn't be engaging in "behavior" discussions on the board under their player names.

But "don't ask, don't tell" is probably about right, and this thread is asking. smaug in favor of censorship! How about them apples.

And, not to rest on an appeal to authority, but I was a sysop on the Compuserve forums in the mid 1990s that invented this media. So, shut up, my opinion is more important than yours.

Um, Does anyone remember "Kimmie"? A blazing WR demon from a (dare I say) couple of years ago...

I think that she was abducted by the Editor Pods...

I found some usernames in the player directory that I'm pretty sure are editors:

imacreep
iscrewinflsheep
butthole

I wanted to look through it more but on the 44th page of B's, I crashed the system. We need a better way to access the directory.
