Every week sploofus should have a quintacathalon.

five events:

author a quiz
take a predetermined quiz or set of quizzes
one word round
one word match
one word puzzle

Highest combined score wins.

Sounds good. What's the prize? (not that it matters because I can never do WR or WM fast enough to count).

This is an outstanding idea! Smaug, I am truly amazed at what you can come up with when you use your powers for good

In view of the author's excellent idea and reputation, shouldn't tie breaks be determined by a vote of the masses regarding the most amusing post on Salty?

Love it, Smaug. A lot of details to work out there, but I think it's a great idea!

Hey Smaug, like the idea, love to give it a go. When you going to start paying the royalties for using my latest photo release?

Yea but...

WMs, WRs and WP would need to be the lowest number...need to figure out a formula.

Miss Ashlee???

Ya know, we come up with all these cool ideas and none of the elders ever come here say diq about them (mean face).

Here's how it could work maybe.

20 percent for each category, WR, WM, WP, quiz writing, quiz taking. Say 20 points for each.

Players have to announce they are in at the beginning of the week..

The WMs and WRs are at, say, 8:00 pm eastern three times per week. The top ten times on those three timed combined puzzles get a graduated score. Maybe 20, 19, 18, etc. Other participants get a baseline participation score of 5. Don't take it you get zero.

The word puzzles same thing. Three puzzles a week, smoosh the standings, graduated scores.

Quizzes are easy, designate some number, 5 or so, and smoosh the standings, same scoring.

Quiz authoring is harder. Several metrics...popularity, rating, difficulty, points accrued. Dunno...

This needs a technology mash up, can't do it manually. Maybe in 3.0h yeah right.

Just because we don't comment here doesn't mean we aren't reading, passing along the ideas, and discussing amongst ourselves!

I was going to comment right away that you are going to be so pleasantly surprised when you see 2.0, as so many of the wonderful ideas that are being brought up here in the chat room are already part of the new site - but you all are sick and tired about the promised 2.0 that I didn't want to bring it up! But it really is coming soon; it really is going to incorporate a lot of new games and competitions and chances for camaraderie; it really is going to be fabulous!

PLEASE keep suggesting new game ideas.

PLEASE don't get too frustrated at the long wait for 2.0! There have been several unforeseen set-backs that have delayed the release which is why no one is willing to give a release date...but it WILL be here eventually.

Nelly raises a good point - you cannot have everyone taking the same wordrounds or matches cause some of us are sleeping (not me, I never sleep - thank goodness for Ambien) at any given Sploofus clock time of the day. So that would need to be worked out. Unless there was a separate set of matches/rounds that could be accessed only by those in the contest for the week. I know zero about programming, but that would seem do-able to me.

I really think this idea is a winner!

That's what I thought Alice - maybe it could be set up rather like a TQOTD for people who wanted to participate.
