PLACING A SELF-SERVING POST...

Have you guys tried any of my quizzes? I was just looking at my quiz stats, and all my favorites I have made still have very few takers.
My Circus/Carnival thingy quiz has the best rating of all mine, but not many takers. Come on, guys, take my quizzes! (making pitiful face...)

On that note, what quiz(zes) of yours are you particulary fond of, and would like to see more people take?

I like your quizzes, they are tough but I always learn something new(said in slightly whiny voice). My Axe-men has been rated best so far, moderately difficult rating. Danny

Except for the Brady Bunch quizzes (which grew slowly) my quizzes all have a low # of responses. Two are on bands that many people might not be too familiar with, so that's understandable.

My favorite is really difficult, but fun I think. (The Cow Says "Mmuuh")

I do feel a little bummed if my quiz has been up all day and only 4 people have taken it, but I have a lot of fun making them, and it wouldn't be fun if the subjects weren't interesting or fun to me.
Maybe one of them will strike a chord some time! =)

It happens. When I first came here I got all excited about the quizes and immediately did one about Frank Zappa since I knew that there were thousands of folks out there just dying to take it-people who were just as rabid fans as I am. I should have learned my lesson right there, but no, I did part two a few days later. I think 8 people have taken it and it's been live for seven months. And, such a masterpiece it was...

Well, so far I've figured out that people just don't take many quizes on Zappa, T-Rex, The Kinks and Supreme Court Justices.

Other than that, it seems to be a roll of the dice. Some of the ones I get really excited about and am sure will do well--don't. Others do surprisingly well.

I have taken all of your quizzes and enjoyed them. Your work should be well recieved by the Trivia Purist, but alas Sploofus has become an assembly line quiz site. The folks writing stuff straight off of the VH1 website have me in stitches, but let's not get off on that tangent. Based on the quizzes you compete against much of your work should be in the Expert Trivia section.

I noticed that you recently became a Gold Member. I hope the only reason you haven't written more quizzes is that you have been busy tending to that Little Angel shown in your profile.

Keep the quality coming,

Felix

P.S. Don't feel remorse about a self-serving post, my good fiend does it all the time.

I'm not sure if I left the 'R' out of friend on purpose or not?

I've had several quizzes with over 100 takers. I have even more quizzes with under 6 takers.

Many of the ones with the least amount of takers have been the ones I have spent the most time on. Granted, those have also been the most specialized quizzes.

My two least taken quizzes are both on indivisual bads as well...The Pogues and Bowling for Soup.
My wo highest rated quizzes are the one on the pogues, and my most recent quiz...wrestlers who have passed away. I was surpried 64 people took it, and surprised it got a 7.28 avg rating AND generated the most messages.
I think I will do another wrestling one, matbe famous tag teams.

I've only recently begun writing quizzes and I try to mix it up with genera topics and more specific ones (such as my Paint-By-Number and Lincoln Logs quizzes.) These are more fun for me because they are what what I most enjoy about trivia - knowledge about things I shouldn't really know about. Kind of a one-for-you, one-for-me strategy.

One thing I have found though - If you don't make the quiz ridiculously easy, and people miss answers, they score your quiz low, regardess of how accurate and verifiable the quiz.

For me, when I take a quiz that I think I'll know a lot about (like movies), and the quiz is well-written, and I still bang my head to figure out th answers, then I rank it pretty high because I appreciate that I got stumped on something I'm an expert on.

Of course, that's just me. I like a challenge. And I have recieved some good praise from people who haven't scored great, so it's not the case for everyone.

Still, I enjoy writing quizzes on obscure topics because I know when I take a quiz myself, I like learning something I may not have known before.

I realized quickly that if no one did well on my quizzes, they were rated low. I just can't do the easy ones, like everyday stuff, or celebrity/movie/TV things that will be common knowledge. I like the weird stuff.
And, I am one of those whose head is full of useless knowledge, strange facts that not everyone knows about. So, that is how my brain works on quizzes, doing something that I would take. I thought they would at least be interesting.

P.S. I have started moving mine to the expert section!

FELIX: Thanks for the kudos. I haven't really done any more quizzes lately because I'm still a bit put off by the 100's of easy ones listed daily. It's not easy being different...

And I believe that was a subconscious slip on the fiend vs. friend....

I'm glad that some people are making quizzes on topics that haven't been covered over & over. I do take movie/tv/music quizzes on subjects I like (as long as they aren't marked EASY!!!!!!!!!! or part of a 350 quiz series) but I'm always excited to come across the lone quiz done on a subject that makes me smile or that I want to learn more about.
Off now to take the Pogues & Lincoln Logs quizzes.
=)
