N E PATS

Ok, waited 24 hours.

Congrats to the Patriots for a "so far" perfect season. (Need to win the Super Bowl before it's offically perfect) Based on the record of team and honestly the all around dominance of the team, foregone conclusion.

16 - 0...impressive.

Me.

P.S. I for one will be saddened by the end of the football season...Hubby's a football widower.

I am grateful because I never know when football season starts nor when it ends.

Dynasty for sure. 16-0 a tremendous feat.
However what if the Ravens head coach had NOT called the most ill timed "time out" in NFL history? In fact the players did not know a time out had been called till the play was over and the PATS had not made it on 4th and one. Baltimore would have run out the clock with 55 seconds left. If the PATS can win the AFL they have the Super Bowl.

... and then the Ravens would have screwed up both New England's and Miami's perfect seasons!

meh....I have Giant tix...didn't even go.

Should have, but I figured it wouldn't be much of a Giants fan nite.

Exciting game, but I was right -- we took a loss in a useless game and lost three starters for next week's playoff game.

Smaug...this kills me, couldn't agree with you more. NY goes into a "no lose" game and loses 3 players. There is a price to pay for stupidity.

How IN THE NAME OF GOD do you play your starting o and d, with NOTHING on the line and a playoff spot in the bag?

Like kicking to Hester...WHY?

Me.

Not to be all hard-assed about it (as if), but if it was more important to them to spoil it for the Pats than it was to be ready for the playoffs, then they got what they deserved.

It was interesting seeing how the various teams handled the lame duck games.

Time out Chick !!! Did Ditka rest the '85 Bears "NO WAY" !!! He didn't want the excuse
"We were rusty". It's only fair to the fans who freeze their cans off and pay $100 a game to see these guys play. If these Prima Donnas have to worry about stubbing a toe, then go play Cricket or Snooker. Remember when Phil Jackson would sit Jordan for a quarter, people (including Jordan) would go nuts. Injuries are part of the game and in sports the cream always rises to the top. In other words, play or go home !!

Of course Ditka or in this case Belichick would go all out. The point is should the Giants have?

It doesn't really matter what happened, it was the judgement call I am questioning. Look at the other Manning today with the Colts. A few quarters and out.

It looks like its possible that we may have lost our starting center O'Hara, a starting linebacker Mitchell who you may not have heard of but was the NFC Defensive Player of the Week last week, and our starting safety Madison. Burress and Jacobs were both nursing injuries and could have used the week off.

We get knocked out in the first round next week, there is going to be a lot of questioning over the winter. Exciting game, but was it worth it.

Why kick to Hester? Because if you're pros and the best at what you can do, you believe/know that if you run the play right, you can beat him. Because you're not chickens who will give the ball away at midfield, just so he doesn't get a chance to return it. Because when you play not to lose, you lose.

I agree totally with having the Giants play all-out against NE, even if it had absolutely no bearing on the play-off picture and cost them 3 starters...even if it had cost them even 4 or 5. As a die-hard Bucs fan, when we play the Giants next week, I want as few of their first-string players on the field as possible. We need all the help we can get.

meh, the Bucs are weak, played four non-playoff teams the last 4 weeks and lost to 3 of them.

We're already getting 3.5 in your house. going to crush y'all.

Well, the San Diego Chargers are going to do them all in! Well, maybe. I do know one thing, LT is one of the greatest people on and off the field.

The Detroit Lions have once again given me a reason to get splashed on New Years Eve. I don't know how this team can show their faces in a town that has the Red Wings, the Pistons, and the Tigers.

the Lions will roar again. they did much better this year than last. with a little luck, next year can be even better if they work at it!

Great thread ... Chick. Just some thoughts.

When I played football the idea was that unless you go all out each play, you are MORE likely to get hurt. Experienced guys don't get hurt as easily as a sub who is trying to get a new contract for next year.

The coaches are paid to win and all of the fantasy league players want their best players in the game. Plus, Las Vegas and many others set odds with billions on the line. Any coach that dumps is off the chart.

Now ... about those Skins ... lost 6 starters by mid season and then lost their best defensive (Shaun Taylor) and their starting QB. If you want a hero, try Joe Bugle (O line coach) who coached many new folk to work together including an undrafted rookie right tackle and a converted defensive lineman. Joe Gibbs is a hero just for getting into the play-offs. If you can get 10 points, go ahead and pick Seattle. Why do the skins want to win ... so they can play Dallas again!

I know it is a long shot to see the Skins beat the Patriots ... actually just a dream ... like Chick and Lodi

Cheyenn, I hope you are right but I have heard that same line now for as long as I can remember. I have been a Lions fan for 50 years so I hope you understand my pessimism. Right now the problem is at the top with the owner and GM, both duds. Maybe someday,,,,,,,,,,?

Did Alex Karras ever walk home, like he promised he would, after that 5-0 loss to Dallas that would have sent the Lions to the Super Bowl in 1970?

I'm not saying they shouldn't have shown up, but Indy had the right game plan, get the starters in and then pull them. We'll see how it all works out.

Ken...ya'll just keep kickin to Hester. Keep believing what you want. I personally would love to see him get his hands on the ball every down. Call it what you want. When you kick to him, some call it stupid, here in Chicago we call it a TD.

Me.

Hey Chick- Have you ever seen films of Gale Sayers? I loved Wlater, but Gale had the prettiest moves you'll ever see. Baring injury, Hester will revolutionize football.
Smaug< I really don't like New York teams, but the Giants and Jets are some of the best teams to bet on with the spread. I really loved the G-men when Parcells was head coach.
No doubt about it Pats all the way. Little Archie (#18) and team out in first round. Dungy is overrated and like Joe Gibbs, God isn't on his team this year. I better shut up until next season.
Happy New Year All !!!!
