SPLOOFUS CONVENTION

I would like to resurrect an old idea that never gained enough momentum to materialize - the idea of a Sploofus Convention.

Trivia Expo 2006!

I can take Sploofus on the road and setup 3 conventions - one in the west, one in the midwest, and one in the east. Each convention would take place in a rented conference room in a nice hotel, and an accommodation package could be provided.

This would give those interested to finally meet and share in person those things that have brought us virtually together on Sploofus. Additionally, there could be games, prizes, entertainment, etc.

Imagine playing trivia IN PERSON with the names you have grown to know. Is this possible? I don't know! Would anyone actually attend? You tell me!

If the West Coast convention is close enough to me (I live near LA; "close enough" is probably anywhere in California, I vote for San Francisco), I'll certainly attend!

I think it's a great idea...But, I think you've got a LOT on your plate already!

The easter the east on gets the better chance of me attending. I live 6 hours east of Maine in PEI, Canada

I vote for the having the Midwest one in Detroit and I'll be there. Sounds like a lot of fun. We can all go to a bar that has NTN Trivia and we'll set the world record.

Detroit sounds like a winner for us for the Midwest - only 1 1/2 hours away and I know of 5 others that are closer yet.

I will suggest the midwest not be in Detroit. Perhap just outside, but not in, although Greektown is a good time for eating.

That would be cool! Chicago is a little closer for me in the Midwest...only 4 hours vs close to 9 for Detroit.

Depends on how close to home the east or midwest meet would be, but I would definately make the drive for anything under 400-500 miles.

Can you imagine a group of sploofusers taking over the trivia night at a bar? We would all be kicked out for hurting the regular patron's feelings and running them out of the bar, lmao! 'Course, it wouldn't be the first bar I've been kicked out of....

Chicago would be good - or even Indianapolis - I went their for a MSN Zone Euchre Tournament a few years ago - the hotel was great and we had a blast.

I'd be up for a West Coast convention! I'm in San Francisco but would be willing to drive elsewhere.

(I'll also vote for PEI while I'm at it. I've always wanted to visit there.)

As suggested above by someone else, polls sure seem like a good way to gauge interest and select locations for the conventions!

If the midwest one is in Chicago, I may have go go to that one, too: I lived near Chicago (Evanston, Winnetka) for many years before moving to California.

How about Vegas for us West Coasters? I may even take the trek to Georgia to do the convention as well as the Aquarium.

Oh, superb!
I'll be at the lot.
My votes would be:
West - Bristol
Mid-West - Stratford on Avon
East - London

Lokking forward to seeing you all!

Sounds like a plan to me. I'd like something closer to Florida, but I'm not anxious to go to New Orleans...it might rain. Atlanta or Orlando would work just fine. With Orlando there'd be lots of nice inexpensive hotels.

Nashville would also be a great option for a convention....I'd vote for it or Atlanta insead of New Orleans...things are still up in air there after Katrina.....Even Chattanooga would be a great place to have a convention....
It's centrally located at least for us Southerns.....LOL

That sounds very spectacular about a possible Sploofus convension.
I live in Va but would definitely love a reason to take a train to New York City, if you end up having the East Coast Convension in New York City
It would be very exciting to meet other fellow Sploofusers.
Definitely keep us posted on this great event.
Have a beautiful day

Jennyhp and I vote for Chicago... actually, the Quad Cities would be even nicer cause we have babysitting here, but that would be hoping for too much. Hotels are cheap here though! And we have Barge Racing! And, and, uh, a really big statue of a deer named John. And... hmmm. Not doing a very good job of promoting tourism here, probably why I didn't get that job at VisitQuadCities.com. (Yes, it's an actual site)

Chicago sounds great. I can volunteer my backyard...provided it is only 10 people, but from the sounds of it, that would be a no go.

My husband thinks I'm nuts already...sploofusing is an overused word in this house already. He will have me committed for attending. Not like that should have been done years before.

Don't forget my pin.
It'll mean a mid-Atlantic cruise, though.
Now, THERE'S the answer, calling in at all Sploofers' nearest ports!!

I'm in the west but Vegas is further than the 6 hour drive to San Fransisco. How about Portland or Seattle? Of course I could always catch a plane.

I love the idea, but like Machiabelly, we live on a small Island on the East Coast and the closest would be Toronto, an 18-24 hour drive, or shorter, like 16 if you drive like me
