Showdowns are grossly unfair to members who only have access to limeted ADSL/Broadband. If an easy question comes up, we have virtually no chance of winning, because there is 7-8 secs on our time before we even start. When I deo word round, it takes over 20 seconds to submit 10 answere, no questions being read, yet, somehow, some players manage to answer 10 questions correctly in 17-18 secs. I do wonder how.

Hey Bill,
Can understand your frustration regarding your connection times, but, as regards other people's 'fast' times, this has been debated frequently. As I have found, it really is down to practice and more practice! Sub 20sec doesn't happen too often yet, but low 20's get more frequent all the time. These fast times look unreal until one attains them for oneself. Then you wonder what all the fuss was about.
Cheers, Andy.

Look at a person's profile when you think you want to challenge them. It will tell you what their average answering speed is; don't challenge someone who has an average significantly under yours! Wait until you move up (or down) the leaderboard and find the person to challenge who seems to be about equal or slower than you at answering.

If you are challenged, although losing is frustrating, it doesn't really matter since you won't lose any points.

Suzer, that's the system that I believe most of the challengers have used on me. although I have never refused a challenge, I have checked on their times and usually thet have been close to mine. I still don't have a very good record though. Mostly from SLOW responses and hesitating before hitting submit.
