"KIDS ONLY" RANT

Does anyone else think the words "Kids Only" should be in the title of any quiz fitting that category?

i chose "maths" from the most recent quiz list that was categorized as General Trivia > Numbers on the description page. once in the quiz the questions were math equations like 562 - 45 = ?.. not at all what i expected and no trivia value.

When i went back to the quiz list i see that this quiz has now been moved to the "kids" category.

if the words "Kids Only" in the title isn't workable, then i think all the "kids" quizzes should be marked with an icon.. like the ribbon indicating the EA's. that way they can be identified when listed on the 'recent quiz' list or on the list of quizzes accessed from a member's profile.

Why is there a "kids only" category if one has to be 18 to join?

I think a math trivia that simply has someone answering math problems is not trivia in the LEAST.

It Aint trivia to add 2 plus 34.

I pretty much thought all the quizzes for that category had the word -Kids- in it. They should just put up a little symbol like Chyenn suggested, maybe 2 different colored crayons or something like that.

As far as a simple math quiz, I wouldn't go so far as to say it shouldn't be on the site #1 b/c there are kids who are members, 2 everyone is not good at every subject, & 3 you don't know what everyone's capabilities are there could be brain damage from a car accident, etc - you don't know I could be dealing with dyslexia. If someone does have a learning disability, be it congenital or not, it doesn't mean they're not smart. It usually means they have to learn certain things in a different way or they might be more limited than some others in that subject.

Anytime I edit a Kids Only quiz, I always add "Kids Only" to the title. It is all too easy to take one by accident otherwise.

As far as your other question is concerned, I believe that while children are not permitted to be members in their own right, the children of members are permitted to take the Kids Only quizzes. And, as math questions are not trivia, they are not permitted on the rest of the site, but are permitted in the Kids Only category.

Exactly! it IS all too easy, and i prefer not to take them.

BUT as of this morning, in the case of the 'maths' quiz, there is still no indication when the quiz is opened that it is "kids only". the only way to know is by looking at the "kids only" list. i think a symbol (like Bunny's suggestion of crayons) should be used to identify all "kids only" quizzes.

Are you aware that there ARE current profiles here of children as young as 13, complete with pictures and comments about their teen activities????
