I don't know about anybody else, but, I am not impressed with any of the presidential candidates.

Do any of my fellow baby boomers remember when Pat Paulsen ran for president? I believe it was on the Smothers Brothers show.

Perhaps we could resurrect him with a seance and put him back on the ballot.

Are you sure that Paulsen and Hillary are two different people? Maybe Paulsen is slightly more feminine than Hillary. You bring to mind the question of what baby boomers feel is the most import issue in this presidential race?

Words of wisdom from Pat Paulsen:

All the problems we face in the United States today can be traced to an unenlightened immigration policy on the part of the American Indian.

Assuming either the Left Wing or the Right Wing gained control of the country, it would probably fly around in circles.

I've upped my standards. Now, up yours.

If elected, I will win.

I believe that Pat Paulson is dead. If you recall, like the Smothers Brothers, He was a jerk, too!!! Serve in the military back then and tell me he was funny or correct.

Little known fact is that Pat Paulsen served in the Marines during World War II.

A view from across the pond...

How about this?
You've already had an actor, - thus starting a trend in other countries - a recovering alcoholic and (in the Gubernator) a vague link to Nazism. So...

Vote For Mel!

Just persuade well-known drunken anti-Semite Mel Gibson to run for office.
Look at the credentials:
*Knowledge of how to handle an energy crisis (drive fast and shoot first)
*Intimate understanding of the modern-day Feminist outlook (buy daughter Prom dress & shave legs)
*Ability to ease international tensions using diplomacy (throw people from buildings whilst making wise-crack)
*A believer in equality, irrespective of creed or culture (on-screen killings of all races)
*Proven track record of leadership (King of Scotland)
*Religious leadership and spiritually educative (300 million Catholics who now speak ancient Aramaic)

Vote for Mel!
Remember: "They may take our lies, but they'll never take our freedom!(to earn millions of dollars on the speaker circuit, after we've screwed this and most other countries)"

I remember Pat Paulson (I was just a kid, though). Stephen Colbert seems to want the job as Vice President....maybe Jon Stewart could run.

No matter who becomes the next president, the job will be very difficult and thankless. Wouldn't want the job for anything. If you don't vote though you lose your right to complain about how the government is doing.

Amen, J/D! If you don't vote, you have nothing to complain about.

Voter apathy leads to rule by the few and loss of power to the people.

Be part of the solution, or you're part of the problem.

105 million people cast ballots in 2000 for US president. In 2004 that figure was up to 120.3 million people. Nice increase, but that was still less than 60% of those ELIGIBLE TO VOTE. Makes me wonder what might have happened if that other 40% had voiced their opinion on a ballot......

Since the next president has such a huge mess he/she will not be able to clean up and their lack of action will cause them to have an approval rating pretty much the same as the current president, I propose for someone you already hate. Saves you the time and energy of building a new hatred.

Missgeorge  (Level: 63.0 - Posts: 388)

Instead of someone we hate, how about Tuzilla for president, and Smaug for vice president?

On the subject of gun control, Paulsen half jokingly said: β€œLet's preserve our freedom to kill.”

On the subject of congressional ethics he said: β€œ lawmakers don't like to take graft and big bribes ... but how else can they get the money to buy votes?”

With all of my 'tact' shouldn't I be the UN Ambassador? Just askin'. I'll settle for Homeland Security. "Smaug, report to the office".

Saw a bumper sticker that said "Vote for Monica Lewinski's ex-boyfriends wife"
I see the races this way;
I will never accept a president named "Obama". Every time this guy talks I think I'm in a revival tent. I don't know why but I do.

Hillary is a lying B--ch! Period

Forget about the rest of the Dems.

Romney has the best platform but would he bring these ideas with him to the white house? Doubt it.

I would be more interested in who Mc Cain chose as a running mate due to his age.

Huckabee? Nice guy but we are mixing church and state here. Bad idea.

As a resident of Michigan I am used to lying, underperforming leadership and this presidential line up promises that crap in spades.

And by the way, I have missed voting in only one major election since 1964 so I assume I have earned the right to bitch!

As your press secretary I shall spend my day gathering news of most importance worldwide and trickling bits and pieces of the information to the media throughout the day - Who will be having tea at the White House, when you'll be rolling the Easter eggs on the front lawn, the name of the turkey pardoned at Thanksgiving, etc. At precisely 6 p.m., I will release the top news story of the day.

And Texlewee, if you don't stop yelling out all those tough questions at the press conferences, I shall seat you in the back row with Helen Thomas!

What IS the top news story of the day? Well is it 6 p.m. yet? Be in the conference room at 6 p.m. and I'll hand out a press release.

This is the only place where I can say this.

Having been married to a Viet Nam vet who was severely messed up by his experiences there, I could never vote for John McCain. I can only imagine being a POW might cause even more flashbacks and problems I don't believe anyone could ever totally overcome. McCain might do well. But I would have trouble feeling certain if something traumatic (something like or even worse than 9-11) happened during his presidency. My ex wasn't even a POW and I've seen him under surprise pressure. That's why he's the ex.

They should have a National Voting Day every four years on a "SATURDAY". Getting 75% would be no problem, and the Republicans would never win again, Carl Rove or no Carl Rove. I voted for the first time in 1967 and haven't missed an election, even for dog catcher since. It is a great "Right" to have.

I agree with Saturday, however, would you share your thoughts with me, Paper, on this statement?

"and the Republicans would never win again"

I'm curious as to how you came to that thought.

Wow, Surgeon General!

I'm really stoked about this. Free neuter/spray for everyone. On the house!

Tres Cool...I get to be Sec of State!! Totally stoked after that appointment.

SO now onto my duties, care less about oil producing nations and the supposed "human rights violations" that ironically coincide with the political agenda of the US NOT the world, care more about Africa and the real atrocities.

Care less about big companies, more about the exponentially decreasing middle class. (Ok I know that one is out of my jurisdiction, but I need a bit of latitute here)

All in all, after being appointed to this post, I pledge to actually care about the entire world and not just the things that are beneficial to the select minority that holds the checkbooks of the world in their hands.

Sound like a Democrat? YUP...Tuzilla appointed me, blame him.

I am so happy with the proposed administration! I am one of the exponentially decreasing thingies.

I gave up my 6-figure income 4 years ago so I can be part of the lower class. It was exhausting paying income taxes for 2,389 other people. The guilt was too much to bear.

I pledge not to go to a doctor until there is free medical care for everyone. RJ, back off! I don't need spaying.

I am now on a fixed, no cost-of-living-increase pension. I am waiting for the government to discover I have an extra bedroom in my house so they will make me share it with someone. I hope it is not a perv. Actually, I am just hoping it is not the wrong kind of perv ...

I'm here in Las Vegas, so the tv and radio are loaded with commercials in anticipation of the Nevada primary. Clinton's giving these bland "I'm a sensitive human who wants to work for you" ads. Obama is a bit better with "I will fight for the middle class against the wealthy corporations." On the GOP side, Romney is going with "I opposed gay marriage as a governor, so all you bigots should vote for me". And Paul has "I'm a veteran and the troops support me."

Very odd what everyone claims to be.

Ken, If they claimed what they really were, there wouldn't be as many candidates.
Obama is my Senator and has been campaigning for a year, and November is ten months away. That will be 22-23 months. Even if he becomes president, who took care of my state
(and got paid to do it). Campaigning should be only six months maximum. Who pays any attention to them anyway??

Donden, lying and underperforming are not exclusive to Michigan (though I know the unemployment there is scandalous). Lying and underperforming is becoming a tradition in DC.
I don't know who I'm voting for yet. So uninspired by all of them. Used to like John McCain (though I've never voted for a republican) but his stance on this war drives me nuts.
I got an email the other day with a big warning about Obama and his dad's & stepdad's Muslim activity. Though it is my understanding Obama is a Christian, this email ranted about how he can't be trusted because of his paternal heritage. What a load of crap! If that is the way we are going to judge candidates (and each other) we are in trouble. My father, a$$hole that he was, was a member of the KKK. Idiot. Does this mean I cannot be trusted around black people? If so, someone better tell my daughter in law, who is 1/2 black, 1/2 filipino. She's coming to live with me in a couple of weeks when my son is deployed again.
Ok, I'm through ranting...for now.
