WHO DO YOU THANK?

A friend of mine made an interesting comment the other day. She wished she could thank a certain singer for a song that made her feel better when she was down. Sure, a fan letter might suffice, but who knows if it would ever be read by the intended recipient? Then I started thinking - would it really matter? Wouldn't it be nice to just list all the people you'd thank if you could and for what reason? So here's my list. Feel free to add your own!
Thank you Mitch Albom for writing The Five People You Meet In Heaven. A wonderful and touching story that everyone in my house has read and grown to love for their own special reasons.
Thank you Mary J Blige for covering the song 'One' with U2 - I liked the song before, but something about her version makes me love it now.
Thank you Paul Simon for marrying that horrible Edie Brickell, and keeping her OUT of the recording studios.
Thank you to Natalie Merchant for the song 'Wonder'. As parents of a child with mental and physical handicaps, this song has been especially moving and inspiring. I don't know who or what the song was inspired by, but it gave us tremendous hope and has become somthing of a theme song for our daughter.
Thank you to the people at Ben and Jerry's for New York Super Fudge Chunk ice cream. 'nough said.
Thank you to the staff of Cardinal Glennon Childrens' Hospital. We've spent so much time there over the years with both of our children that they know us all by name and greet us warmly every visit. Not just the doctors and nurses, but everyone from housekeeping to security staff know my children and take time to stop and say hello and chat with us. They've helped us through good times and bad and decerve all the good things life can offer.
There are many more people I could thank, but I should probably give others a chance to comment too.

I'm thankful my mother made me practice when I hated it - it paid off in many more ways than money. I'm thankful for Mercy Me's "I Can Only Imagine." Gives us a hint of wonderful things to come - one of the most beautiful songs ever. I'm grateful to Russ Taff. He is my age and in 1971 lit the fire in my heart for contemporary Christian music. Through ups and downs, his singing and songwriting have been a bond between my son and me, as we both know he's one of the best singers ever on earth - I'm sad everyone doesn't know his work. I'm grateful God lets me play and sing for Him and work in music, cause I sure don't deserve it. I'm grateful for the chances to meet so many wonderful and interesting people in the business. All our lives are so much richer for music and lyrics that express what we just can't.

I would like to thank an old friend who believed in me and empowered me back in my early 20's. Without his influence, guidance, and friendship, I might not be where I am today.

Thanks Nick, wherever you are.

(still pissed you didn't leave me the jaguar in your will)
