I disagree somewhat with inclusion of questions about biology in the category "Physical Science." I think of Physical Science as pertaining to chemistry, astronomy, geology, meteorology, etc. Shouldn't there be a category, e.g. "Life Science," to cover body parts, animals, diseases, etc.?

Never thought of it that way but I agree. Probably wouldn't help my points any though.

Not being at all a scientist, I have to say, what's more physical than the human body?? Makes no sense to me that that ISN'T a physical science!

I think all of the categories for TQOTD could be further broken down, but you just have to look at each category title in the broadest sense possible.

Wasn't Physical Science a song by Olivia Newton-John?

I believe that was "Physical", Lodi! My daughter played it over & over!

This is a definition from Wikipedia:
"Physical science is an encompassing term for the branches of natural science and science that study non-living systems, in contrast to the biological sciences. "

So, the suggestion makes lots of sense to me, or just call it "science".

Frankly, I think there should just be two categories - "Difficult" and "Why Are You Here This Is WAY Too Lofty For Jan's Intellect Level"

i think Bigbird pointed this out once before.

since the category includes all sciences dropping the word 'Physical' would be the easiest fix.

separating it into sub-categories, i suspect, would be a nightmare. and that would inevitably lead to requests for sub-categories in music, movies, sports, etc..... all that sounds like a nightmare for sure!

Yup, I've been complaining about that since I got here - about 2 years ago. My complaints seem to fall on very deaf ears. I was told that physical science was to distinguish it from social sciences.

I figure as long as you know that the questions can be from any branch of science, you can ignore the category - but it is annoying.

Bigbird is right, in the past I looked into taking a physical science college class, it is not & has no relation to biology. I can't say that I've ever seen a question that would be considered social science, even in the potpourri category. Maybe Justin doesn't want an abundance of categories. There's a way to fix it, I'm sure, but maybe he doesn't have time to deal with it until 2.0 is out.

I know that I wouldn't automatically think I'm going to get sociology & psychology questions in a category labeled Science (even though technically they are a science). Surely, using the name Science & a disclaimer to list the subjects that either will or won't be included in it, would do fine. Or maybe using Hard Science & Soft Science with any needed disclaimers that it wouldn't include chemistry equations or whatever the case may be.

The problem arises with one getting a question wrong that technically isn't physical science - then someone strong in phy sci would probably feel gypped, especially if they were new to the category.

Though I don't know what Justin would want to re-name it, I don't think it should be labeled as physical sci.

The name of the category should be plain old Science. That would do it.
