Just watched Tony Stewarts race car go for $300,000 for charity at the Barrett-Jackson auction. Usually I am ranting about these bidders having more money than brains but in this case it was a feel good extravagance. He threw in a helmet and uniform plus a $25,000 ring. Neat guy! Hope Donna was watching.

I saw a guy pay over 5 million for a '53 Buick that Howard Hughes owned at one time. There's a lot a crazy money flying around those auctions.

I tell people all the time what a great guy the REAL Smoke is, in spite of his fiery temper on the track and his outspoken way with the media. I always watch the car auctions because sooner or later Tony shows up. I've had it on for endless boring hours, but wow! what a payoff!

He usually auctions something for the Victory Junction Gang, Kyle Petty's amazing camp for critically ill children, dedicated to the memory of his son Adam, who died in a practice crash in New Hampshire years ago. Tony does several fund-raising events a year to meet a pledge he made to Kyle of a million dollars a year for the camp. He exceeds it every year.

Don, I know you know all this stuff - it's for whoever else might be interested. Thanks for thinking of me, it means a lot.

WOOHOO! C'mon Daytona! 20

He is due Donna. If he don't wreck early he has a shot.

He bought an awesome old 60s GTO in the last hour for 120 grand. Makes me kinda glad I got rid of the Isuzu and went back to Pontiac. Just to balance the mojo, you understand.

I'm burning candles in the shrine every night. Think I should keep 'em going 24/7?
