alright, move along, nothing to see here.

I told M2 to write the easiest quiz he could dream of to see how many people took it.

"Easy Alphabet Quiz"

More people took it in the first 12 hours than took some of my EA quizzes ever. He got a bunch of complimentary PMs about hos great it was. Four people missed a question.

The questions were like this:

What is the letter between "R" and "T" that sounds like a snake?

S
M
Y
L
D

Maybe it would be best to post this under "The Hit List Forum". That's were players recommend quizzes.

Also it sounds like a quiz that would work best under the "For Kids Only" section instead of "Vocabulary".

Didn't say anything earlier but am just wondering about this one thing. I am aware there is no rule against it, but have seen others villified by sarcasm-one young girl haven't seen since-for self-promotion not only on the "Salty Dog" but on the "Hit List' as well-Linda

Most people do get at least a little scolding. Here is a link to a sweet kid's thread and responses, from just a few days ago, posted in the hit list. http://www.sploofus.com/bbs_detail.sp?post=63397&cID=5
I think it should be stated clearly somewhere in the Forum that we don't practice self-promotion, especially if people are going to get up in arms about it. I don't want to be Smaug's nemesis this week. I think I'll go take the boy's quiz.

Could not agree with you more, Erin-no one should be "special" here-I usually pm new folks who do that so they won't be hurt by the sarcasm-I too am too tired to fight with Smaug!-Linda

Oh for the love of chris---the whole thing is a farce! We're comparing the most moronic quiz in history and seeing how it pulls in comparison to editor's Award quizzes.

And along trundle some knuckleheads worreid about self-promotoung....jeezuzz...

didn't the picture of the chimps on the front give you a hint?

By the way, he's getting complimentary PMs left and right -- Nice quiz! Really enjoyed it! Nice and easy!

Yes, Smaug, we get it. Members as whole seem prefer easy/dumb/silly quizzes instead of your well researched, informed, masterfully written ones. Oh, the humanity.

Seems a rather convoluted way to determine the blatantly obvious.

ATTENTION SMAUG! BREAKING NEWS!

It was announced today in Geneva after a 3 trillion euro scientific study lasting nearly an hour, that most people prefer easy quizzes to hard. It is theorized that the average human prefers feeling very smart to feeling very stupid.

Well, it was news to me. I had no idea the imbecile lobby was so pervasive here.

Anyone have an idea for an even easier quiz? Like addition and subtraction with single digit numbers?

Perhaps a "mensa" section coould be put in place for people as smart as you are, Smaug. That way you could put your quizzes there-Linda

Sargon, I don't think he is mad at your comment, but that he wrote what he considers to be a great quiz, and it didn't have many initial takers (according to him), so, he got his son to write a silly easy one about the alphabet, as a test to see if members would respond in greater numbers. They both made a post promoting their quizzes. In Smaugs head, they can do this because he is conducting an "experiment", I assume. When his son's easy quiz got many more takers than his well written, more difficult one, he wanted there to be a public outcry, I think. Smaug is more likely annoyed at Heidi and I for mentioning that quizzes should not be promoted on the forums. He thinks it is ridiculous for us to be concerned about that when there is the greater problem of members preferring easy quizzes. You were nothing but polite, and I'm sure he wasn't upset with you in the slightest. But I can't speak for him, and I hope he corrects me if I am wrong.
Smaug, I'm sorry that you haven't found a site that excludes members from writing and taking easy quizzes, but she's right, this isn't mensa. The site is designed for fun, for everyone. There a so many amazing quizzes, easy, hard, well written, silly, is this really something to get upset over?

In our defense, Smaug, I don't think anything was said about how old this child is. We all know there are kids using this site even though they aren't "supposed" to. My 9-year-old grandson keeps begging for his own profile so he can do puzzles under his own name. We don't know but what this is your 9 or 10 year old son. So to be on the safe side, I think I may have said good job. If he was 9 or 10, that would have been a good job for a puzzle; little simplistic maybe, but OK.

However, I also figured this might be a hoax, knowing you. Heck, you probably even wrote the quiz. But you also set the stage for making us think this was a serious attempt at a quiz by asking us to take your son's quiz. For shame, for shame, for shame.

Don't think the results necessarily mean we like simple quizzes better than well-researched difficult quizzes. You said this was your son's quiz; you asked us to do something for your child. Someone comes around selling something I can tell them not interested in no uncertain terms. But send a kid around selling candied popcorn, which I can't eat, and I'll probably buy 4 or 5 tins of it.

You failed to figure in the kid factor -- most people are decent and really want to help a kid out whether it's buying garden seed, cookies or taking a puzzle.

So there!

I'm not like them
But I can pretend
The sun is gone,
But I have a light
The day is done,
I'm having fun
I think I'm dumb
Or maybe just happy

Think I'm just happy (x3)

My heart is broke
But I have some glue
Help me inhale
And mend it with you
We'll float around
And hang out on clouds
Then we'll come down
And have a hangover

Have a hangover (x3)

Skin the sun
Fall asleep
Wish away
soul is cheap
Lesson learned
Wish me luck
Soothe the burn
Wake me up

I'm not like them
But I can pretend
The sun is gone,
But I have a light
the day is done,
I'm having fun
I think I'm dumb
Or Maybe just happy
