Hi all. I'm not much into football, and I think that a "tight end" has something to do with the uniforms.

Despite my lack of knowledge or enthusiasm for the game, I wanted to share a fun idea that the athletic club where I work is doing to celebrate the event. We're hosting a big party featuring both New England Clam Chowder and Manhattan Clam Chowder. So, you can choose the Chowder of your choice to support your favorite team.

I'll be hiding behind the couch so I don't have to see two lines of huge guys crashing into each other, piling on top of each other, or flipping head-over-heels into the End Zone. Ouch!

LOL Have fun!

As a "non-fan" and an avid cook, this sounds like a great idea! I can couple it wtih my birthday party for lots of fun!

That Manhattan style clam chowder is just nasty.

i had forgotten which chowder was cream based and which had tomatoes added.

a quick peek at wikipedia and i found an interesting tidbit:

"New England Clam Chowder is a milk based chowder, that is normally made with potatoes, onion, bacon or salt pork & clams. Adding tomatoes to clam chowder was shunned, to the point that a 1939 bill making tomatoes in clam chowder illegal was introduced in the Maine legislature."

such puritans! LOL

A good bowl of chili, Buffalo wings and Subway platters is the way we go.

My favorite is New England Clam Chowder, but I'm a New Yorker at heart so my first choice would be Manhattan Clam Chowder.

I know it's not a choice but my favorite would be corn chowder. Never really had any decent clam chowder that wasn't off the coast somewhere.

Well, as a Giant fan, I'm taking this seriously. We are having two couples over, THAT'S IT.
And they are bif fans and they aren't ratchet-jaws and there would be any need for any GD New England Clam Chada.

I'm making Smaug's Special Amazing Chili (TM), Panera three cheese bread, and Smaug's Amazing Stuffed Mushrooms (TM). And a big shrimp cocktail platter.

For the kid's church youth party - even though our CowBOYS didn't make it - we'll have Lorri's Untouchable Nacho's, Lorri's Kickhiney (since we don't kick ass during church youth parties) Chili Cheese Dip with the SCOOP Fritos...and the rest is up to someone else - because I can only contribute so much - but it's so good

When one of the people we're having over asked what she could bring. I told her whatever she'd like. She kept suggesting things and then deciding she didn't want to bring those things. I was getting a little bored with her hemming and hawing around so when she said Lasagna I screamed "GREAT" bring that! I'm pretty sure she expected me to say that would be too much to ask of her because she didn't say anything for a minute, then in a soft little voice she said, "okay". Can you go to hell for something like that?

Absolutely not! That's what she gets for being flaky.

No, but you may be told to go there.

I always ask people to bring 12-15 filet mignons.

What's Manhattan Clam Chowder have to do with anything? You're looking for East Rutherford Clam Chowder!

clams - - now shrimp, crab, crawfish - that'll work

Legend has it that there is a bar in New York where, in the ladies room, there is a very special mirror. If one stands in front of the mirror and tells the truth, one is granted a wish. However, if one tells a lie... Poof. They are instantly swallowed up by the mirror, never to be seen again.

Sooooo, a redhead of questionable looks walks into the ladies room, stands before the mirror and says, "I think I'm the most beautiful woman in the world." Poof. The mirror swallows her.

Next, a rather large brunette stands before the mirror and says, "I think I'm the sexiest woman alive." Poof. The mirror swallows her.

Then, an absolutely gorgeous blonde comes in and stands before the mirror and says, "I think..." Poof.

um, that was an accident LOL - I can never remember how to make the sickie sign, and my daughter (whom I know officially know after all these years IS really mine) sent me that and was going to send it on to a friend - however - "pasted it on hold" to copy the sick sign and forgot to recopy and delete it - so "Poof"

To avoid stinking up the house with clams we will have chili and sweet cornbread with lots of beer followed by a bedtime Pepcid AC. Yeah,,I know what will happen but it will smell better than clams.
