MARITAL PROBLEMS

Things are bad with my wife at home - she's sick of me, football, rugby, cricket and the odd bet on the horses.

Anyaway I booked a table for 2 last night at 8.00pm, by 9 o' clock things had got 10 times worse.... she hadn't even potted a single goddam red!

Apologies for my American ignorance....what is 'potting a red'? A billiards move?

Also, would you please say "aluminum" and "schedule" for my amusement?
(...she said in her thick southern drawl, followed by "ya'll talk funny")

OK - It's a snooker reference (see Papermanbill it's one of his favourites), I could have said "she still hadn't potted a stripe" I suppose to be more US friendly.

I scheduled some new aluminium siding for my house.........

though imagine a Scottish accent rather than a poncey English one...

One would think that with a name like Liam(papermanbill), there would be a stereotypical prerequisite love for English activities (like snooker)...just as one would imagine a man named Bubba would enjoy a watermelon seed spitting contest.
but (as the bard said), What's in a name?

Erin, I use the name Liam on Sploofus only. The southside Irish in Chicago still don't know if I'm orange or green. My favorite cat's name is Bubba , but he don't like wallamelon. The only watermelon we eat in our house is seedless, we do miss the seed spitting. Laugh, if you want, but there is money in spitting seeds. Barry, if playing snooker would keep my wife happy, I'd have her racking my balls every night. It is the thought that counts, right ??

And further, what is a "poncey English one"?

Imagine the way you expect English people to speak all "lah-di-dah" - that's generally a poncey accent.

As Bushyfox would say a real pommie accent.

Markie.
