I truly enjoy the premise of these types of puzzles - but not the lack of clues -

Kae, I am amazed by how well you choose your words...

I didn't ditch (but I wanted to)...

Am I glad THAT's over!

I thought the puzzle was great. I figured as many moves as it took me I would be off the board. I had a couple that made me chuckle out loud. Probably my warped sense of humor helped on this puzzle.

Despite the clues, I think the only time I grinned was when I finished.

enjoyable enough but at least one of the jokes is 40+ years old...that is when I first heard it.

I admit, I laughed out loud to this one. I'm a sucker for puns.

Does [Grin] really count as a clue?

It is now 3:30 PM EST and I haven't made up my mind if I'm even going to attempt this one.

If you do decide to bail, don't let the door hit you too hard on the way out, by Rosie Cheex.

I am always surprised that people bail.
I've only missed a few puzzles since I've joing sploofus - and hate it when I do - even when I find the puzzles a challenge - I usually wind up learning something I didn't know

Enjoyed trying to reach into the dark & dim parts of my brain to come up with these puns

Lorri - there are a lot of people who come to Sploofus for amusement and entertainment. Myself included. If I learn something at the same time - well that's just a bonus. So I get into a WP that I no longer find amusing and entertaining, and instead just frustrates me, and goes even further by me not knowing what the hell they are talking about, I have no reservations about bailing. I used to be religious about the WP's. They are the reason I went gold back in the day. But if I find one that just makes me miserable, I bail.

Scoring was done differently back then too. You got points for every correct letter you guessed, rather than points taken away for every incorrect letter. Even if you hated the WP, you ended up sticking with it because the more letters you guessed, the more points you got. When these unbearably long, wordy WP's came up, you actually got excited because of the extra point value you were going to get from all the letters.

Hey Lodi....
that sounds like a wonderful idea....
Why did they abandon it????
Maybe because people didn't have the
time to guess 5000 letters - to finish the
puzzle, and get the huge point score????

..."miserable, I bail." Ditto here.

I'm only here for fun learning. I can be tortured at school.

But I totally understand different strokes for different folks.

Thanks for explaining how it used to be - I did not know that and I might have a different take if I had experienced it that way - I upgraded to gold too because of the WP...and I have FELT like bailing before, but since it's the only thing on sploofus I tend to be able to be in at least the top 20 on - that's probably a big part of it too

I stood in line a couple of years ago to try to get on Wheel of Fortune - but there were 10,000 people , and in 1994, I was in the audience at the Texas State Fair after not getting to make it to try out point - one day you guys will see me there - and I'll do a shout out to Sploofus!! - these are definitely my favorite part of Sploofus.
