Flying to Japan today (yesterday).
Flight leaves 11.30; time to do the WP and get there in plenty of time for the next one. Up at 8 do the puzzle...there goes the phone; flight delayed till 1.15. No bother; still plenty of time.
Get to JFK ; flight delayed till 2. No bother; still four hours at arrival.
The plane is delayed -- switched for maintenance reasons. We leave at 3.
Slow flight; arrive 7.15, 1/2 hour late. Now I'm starting to get worried; only 3 hours in hand after time differences.
Arrive to find the whole line getting fingerprinted. Another hour gone. Collect luggage to find no direct buses anymore. My wife suggests a bus...I find too late that it takes 1 .5 hours while a train would be 45 minutes.
Arrive half an hour after deadline time.
Boo hoo!
(And no I'm not obsessed)

Should be able to claim compensation for that Barry - on the grounds of mental torture. You could be suffering from post traumatic stress disorder .... don't these people realise!

With all the travelling you do Barry....
how come you don't use a laptop????
I see many people on the plane, in the
aiport waiting room, all over the place
using their laptops....
You do have my DEEP sympathy though....
went through all that when I was in
Toronto. Felt like "removing" anyone who
was using the only available computer, and
was impervious to my silent pleas to leave,
so I could do the Word Puzzle!!!!

You'll just have to change your job!!!!

Friday I was flying from LAX to Orlando with a plane change in Atlanta.
Flight was supposed to leave at 1:50pm; 1 hr 45 min layover in Atlanta. Home to Orlando at midnight.
Flight was delayed til 4:30pm. Could not make connection. Sat in the LAX Holiday Inn for 8 hours.
Was put on the red-eye that night. 1 hr layover in Atlanta.
Flight from LA left late. Got to Atlanta with 30 minutes to spare. Jetway is broken so we had to sit on the plane for 15 minutes. Our flight was at a gate on the other side of the airport.
Ohhh. Did I say I was flying with my grandchildren (4 yrs; 4 months)? I had to run to catch our flight and NO ONE would help us. I thought I was going to have a heart attack.
Got home yesterday at 11am.
I hate flying.

Reading these experiences is why I'll never fly again. Last time I was on a plane an illegal alien opened my camera and ruined my film. The regulations (like them or not)
are necessary, but I'll drive rather than get in another aluminum tube again. Back in
2002, I took the test for TSA and was told I was over-qualified. The truth was that they
had to hire minority women, only in America.

At least you have an excuse. I not only forgot, but I forgot until about 90 minutes after the quiz ended, too.

Barry- I totally understand! I just got back from a 7-day cruise. I actually purchased a laptop so I could do Sploofus WPs and write quizzes while on the ship. I made sure ahead of time that the ship had WiFi capabilities. What I discovered upon boarding was that although it indeed had it, it also had a 79-cent per minute charge. There was a package deal for 240 minutes for $100, which I actually sprung for. It is amazing, however, how quickly those minutes get used up. I never was willing to use them for the time it takes to do a WP or to write a quiz, especially when I discovered how slow the connection speed was.

Also I was sharing the computer time with my daughter (Bravegator), who was also bloging almost each day. Since it was her birthday on the cruise, she also had to check her email daily to get all her birthday greetings, and I certainly couldn't get pissy about that. I am now 5 WPs behind for this month ;(

Since my big WR month in January & my sore arm, I'm trying to stick with only 2 tries per side. Takes all my strength to walk away with crappy times. Addictions come in many forms
Wish I could lend my platinum to some deserving soul. Seems such a waste

There are dangers of flying with laptops, too. Was in Chicago for a business meeting. Windchills were 25 below. Had tons of crap that had to be put in buckets at the security line - the boots, the coats, scarves, liquids, etc. Gathered everything up EXCEPT the laptop. Didn't realize it till I got home in my house and unpacked late at night.

Went crazy.

Called all over Chicago - Police finally gave me a phone number at the airport that was a real person. They couldn't check till morning. Had a happy ending - gave them my charge card number, and my laptop arrived safe and sound by DHL next morning express. Never asked how much it will cost me - figure I'll know when the bill comes. And you can be sure I am NOT charging it to the company!

All's well that end's well....

Hey Barry - Can I go to some of the places that YOU go??
