First puzzle out contained a series of words that were quite unguessable. After 20 guesses I had solved it...a series of proper names that will handicap anyone who gets THIS puzzle as opposed to most of the others. (With a typo in I suspect -- impossible to check though).
The other four puzzles were all simple by comparison.
Unless sploofus allocates this puzzle to everyone its a lottery as to who gets it and who does not.

I hate long puzzles, as I've complained before. It is stupid to have to pump in EATOINS before even beginning to have a chance to get the gist.

(except Slicko, who is some sort of semantic succubus.)

I got the same puzzle you are talking about. It was my first one and it took me 20 letters to guess it. I guess some times you get the easy puzzles, and some times you get the hard ones. The next time we'll get the easy ones, and some other poor soul will get the hard ones. I'm sure it all averages out if you play it often enough.

I'm not a fan of puzzles with really obscure facts that nobody can get without randomly clicking letters or googling (esp. since I always do the former, and so won't score well.)
I think this would've been a fun puzzle if the specific proper nouns were left out.

Oh man, I got that one too. And it wasn't even pangrammatic.

sounds like I got that one on my first one, but the rest went pretty smoothly - I didn't have a difficult time figuring out the word logic on the rest of them...didn't google -

Not always trying for top scores with moves, it was all right. I worry more about a typing errors with this sensitive Sploofus Verification system 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 .??????
Puzzles shouldn't be that long, anyway. but that's just me.

If I'm a succubus then I really sucked on this one. And I thought the editor one was tough

I'm 38th with 64 moves at this time. Now I remember another reason I sometimes bail - when I've used so many moves I hate for how awful I am to be out there. Then it's always a shock to just buck it up and bite the bullet of humiliation and then discover so many others had a tough time with it, too.

Well, Jank, if you had done badly enough--as I did--you would not even be on the list for others to see! I really did not like this puzzle at all. It's no fun if it is IMPOSSIBLE to guess. I think I had the same one that others complained about, but my other four were no walk in the park either.

I tried doing this puzzle late after I got home, and the combination of that unguessable puzzle and the excruciating slowness of the site at the time caused me to bail--spending twenty minutes on the first puzzle and still having letters not filled in made it impossible to finish. I needed sleep more than I needed this WordPuzzle!

the basset hound name; c'mon sploofus -- give us a break!!

I've never seen VOM as opposed to VON as part of a name but I'm prepared to accept its right; the combination of bscure names and that, killed me!

I thought it was a good workout, and it was a kick nailing a couple of big risky guesses, but I must've gotten all the easy ones. I all got the basic words with rstlne and googled for the spelling of the only two proper names I got. "Guinness" + "28 toes", and some little detail I forget about the other one, yielded the critical missing letters.

I don't normally google, but this month I'm giving it a try once in a while.

I strangled my wife and kids with a power cord and fled the state with loyal, courageous SmaugDog.

Its a fake condition he claims to have so he can freely sniff rear ends and hunker on the neighbor's lawn.
