30 MOST RECENT QUIZZES

As of this afternoon, some of the quizzes have been on the 30 Most Recent on the front page for 2 days now. If mine were one of them, you wouldn't hear a peep out of me. Since mine is not one of the 30 and I have 2 waiting to go live, I am voting for equal time. I really hope 2.0 will address the situation.

Editors, are you trying out 2.0 now? Is this problem taken care of? Does the list grow longer or have some kind of assurance that some poor soul's quiz doesn't stay there for only 6 hours between 11:55 pm and 6 am while others last for days?

Inquiring quiz writers want to know.

I am, totally in agreement with you, Maurlin. Some of my quizzes have remained on 30 most recent for a prolonged period of late but now I,like you, am waiting for activation of one. This has been an issue that has been brought up repeatedly and repeatedly dismissed. Quizzes should get EQUAL time no matter how it has to get done. Some folks will continue to write quizzes and new folks will begin but believe as has happened in the past some current writers will disappear mostly out of frustration-Linda

Just would like to add that exposure is pretty much everything. Most people do not search out quizzes even by checking the categories so it is up to the 25 most popular and 30 most recent to display the quiz where it will receive most takers. I might add that it is a bit difficult to get to 25 most popular without sufficient time on 30 most recent though certain authors do have regular takers. An EA is certainly no guarantee of popularity but guess that is not their purpose-more like pats and applause for writing well done me thinks-linda

Exposure on the most recent and most popular isn't everything, but I'd say it's 95% of everything My luck is that the last quiz I had was out there less than half a day...no such luck to be listed 2 days, but that's the luck of the draw.

I'm hoping the delay is a sign that 2.0 is speeding toward the finish line.

This is not a whine, so holster those cheese avatars.

I have had several excellent quizzes go that short route. This is "one" of the reasons why my talents are being sequestered.

I am discouraged from writing more quizzes for the Music/Musicians category because of how fast they cycle off the front page. On at least two occasions, I have had Music quizzes get moved off the front page within 24 hours (and they are rarely on the first page much over 48 hours). I notice of pattern of quiz backlog, followed by a mad rush of quiz launches. If you have a music quiz at the beginning of the backlog, you will be well down the Music category list by the time the massive launch of quizzes ends.

Yes Robin, but the signals have had a lot of static in them.

There were 117 quizzes ahead of mine when I launched this evening- I haven't seen that many in the que for quite a while!

Moving at a snail's pace once again= will arrive in a flourish as they did yesterday, I assume-impossible to judge or time a launch. Before this latest stop-surge thing used to wait until a quiz was about 10 from the bottom and then launch a new one....

I just launched a quiz and there are over 130 ahead. One of mine that finally got launched lasted slightly over a half a day during the big surge of live quizzes. I got 68 takers during that time perion, but it now has passed into oblivion.

Yes I'd like muenster cheese. I have an exceedingly fine whine!

I've noticed that too, with one of my new quizzes still in the queue after two days and another one sitting for the last day or so. Seems like a big backlog...but perhaps there can be some adjustment in the review process that takes into account the category of the quiz. Some categories have very quick turnover, and seem popular with authors, like General Trivia (duh, I wonder why?) and Television (duh, too). Sometimes the whole list is made up of new quizzes....other categories move a lot slower, i.e. Arts, Expert, Science, etc. Maybe a system can be initiated that flags and reviews those quizzes so those areas get "refreshed" and the more turnover prone ones can stand for a bit more. That doesn't deal with the recent listings questions folks have raised but it deals with some of the exposure questions. I love writing quizzes and take quite a bit of time, researching and tweaking and fact checking and yes, I would love some to stay longer on the board as well, but I also can understand the 'democratic' aspect of this site in allowing everyone and anything to contribute. As for the list freaks, multipart best, famous, top 100, etc.: sometimes it is frustrating to see them take up so much space but hey, at least they're contributing. That's my three cents.
