FRIEND'S DOGS IN PHOTO CONTEST

Okay my friend sent me a link because she entered her dogs into a photo contest and was asking for votes. Well.....she doesn't know about Sploofus power so I am posting here to see if I can drum up some more votes for her pooches. Here is the link

http://www.littleshopofterrors.citymax.com/page/page/1282126.htm

And her dogs are #6. So lets show a little Sploofus power and rocket her into first place.

No comments bout American Idol please, unless of course you watch it, which gathering from the fact that Barnie lives in Spain, he doesn't.

You keep up the "shame" thing Barnie, not voting for you for Sploofuser of the year either (didn't have a chance anyway, I'm SO winning that contest)!

Cheers!

Do you think we live in the backwoods. My wife loves American idol. and I have to suffer it sometimes. If you watch some shows, they are obviously fixed by voting lobbies, not in the spirit of any true competition lover, and not what is expected of decent sploofers.

Seriously Fred .. I mean Barnie... someone asks for our support and we can choose to give it - or not. If we choose to give support, does it really offend you so much that you have to make derogatory remarks about sploofusers? Can't you just choose not to vote and be done with it?

Hmmm.. Barnie called me a moron! Gosh, that's definitely makes me want to retract my vote, and stop supporting fellow sploofusers when they ask for it - NOT!

If your friend or child was in some sort of competition, would you not vote for them?

Hey, been voting for 6 since I noticed this thread. There's is the only photo with character. Anyone can put a kitten in a cup, dress their dog, or style the dog's fur to look like he's actually a person. Daily moments caught in a moment not usually captured in a photo, now that's a slice of life!! (And I've never cared to own small dogs. I've had a weimaraner, chow & shepherd, choc dobie & choc lab, & mutts.)

I find it curious that you raised such a big stink over this thread when the same exact day there was one created asking for votes in another competition. If you read back through the thousands of posts it's not uncommon for us to ask for support in competitions.

Everything from pet contests to winning MRI machines for small town hospitals, to teacher awards, school awards, you name it and there have been vote requests. Seeing how you have been a member for nearly a year surely this isn't a big surprise or shock to you that yes sometimes we ask for votes to help people we know, our schools, our local hospitals, etc.

If it offends your fragile sensibilities then feel free to go vote for another dog, I asked for votes....I didn't put a gun to anyones head and force them to vote, they could have just as easily ignored this entire thread as they could have clicked the link. Most of which probably did. There is over 43,000 people on this site.....do I expect them all to run over to that website and vote...no. I asked for votes....take it or leave it....if they felt so inclined they voted. 99% of them probably never even read the thread or bothered to click on the link and those that did click the link....could very well have voted for another dog. It's not like I have some special monitor on who is going there from this site and what dog they are voting for. You seem to be way over reacting to this whole thing.

When it was battle of the bands contest for high school bands here in East Texas, I also posted, and was grateful at the response. We are a small school in comparison to most, and it was about the votes & support. We lost to a school that is huge and had more votes, but we came in second, yet, our school has won first in the state competition 3 years running, so I know that we are the better band...yet still we lost, but the sploofusers jumped in to help - for which I was grateful

ANYWAY - it is a choice to vote or not - if you don't like a thread move on - if you felt the need to vote for another dog, do so, but what is the point of stomping on the others who choose to vote PLUS make the statement they thought it was the best dog? Who are you to decide they are wrong - they are voting, which at least til this point is a right they have ...it took a simple request and turned this thread into something other than it's intent.

Oh, I did not realize when I was asked to vote for dog No. 6, vastly inferior, that an attempt was being made to fix the result. After all, if I had been made an offer I could not refuse, see Godfather I, I might have felt more inclined to chear. This is very serious, of course, and will be taken as such by all of the Gungho lynchmob.

Oh sheeze:
"Oh, I did not realize when I was asked to vote for dog No. 6, vastly inferior, that an attempt was being made to fix the result."

First, you were not "asked" to vote for #6. You read the thread and went to the link and made a decision on who to vote for, then came back and chastised a whole bunch of people you don't know for participating in the poll and this thread. Operative word is what you "chose" to do.

Second, "in my opinion" should have been added to your "vastly inferior" comment to make it correct because it IS your opinion.

I would have voted for the photo I thought cutest, but "in my opinion", active dogs playing in the snow, doing what dogs do, are far more fun that dogs posing for a picture. While putting a shirt on a dog and calling it cute on an individual basis is like a mom dressing her toddler in their sunday best, "in my opinion", dog clothes are a little silly (to all my friends both on sploofus and off who dress their dogs, my apologies - it is after all just my opinion).

Dogs playing in the snow are fun AND cute - and "in my opinion" #6 best represents what I consider to be cute and funny dogs. I stand by my vote, as I'm sure many others do.

Number 3 looks like a female dog (bow in hair) wearing a man's shirt. That doesn't strike me as cute, although the dog itself is cute.

Number 6 got my vote!

Of course, I want honesty to win. Until this started, I had visited the Salty dog once or twice in my year, but now I know there are so many nasty people out there, I am staying with it until the end, when dog three is declared the winner. I do think this has gotten out of hand, I apologise to Eesebejesus for my remark about the KKIK, it was meant to be tongue in cheek banter, but obviously you lot have no sense of humour.

What should have been a totally light-hearted thread about a dog / photo contest has turned into a nasty exchange of hurtful words.

It was five days after the inital post that Barnierubble interjected his "moron" comment.

Perhaps I'll join his s**t list by adding my comments here, but sir, as the Holy Grail Knight said in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"- you chose POORLY.

My advice to Barnierubble is to let "sleeping [but photogenic] dogs lie."

Let's play games!

"my remark about the KKIK, it was meant to be tongue in cheek banter, but obviously you lot have no sense of humour."

Barnie - do you even know what the KKK is???

Ku Klux Klan - Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is the name of several past and present organizations in the United States that advocated white supremacy, antisemitism, anti-Catholicism, racism, homophobia, anti-Communism and nativism. These organizations used terrorism, violence, lynching and cross lighting to oppress African Americans and other religious, social or ethnic groups.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kkk

How can you even consider this to be even remotely humorous that would be acceptable in ANY form as tongue in cheek banter? I would be more than happy to give you the benefit of the doubt in that you didn't really understand what the KKK was before you made that comment because you didn't realize what a truly horrendous thing it was to say.

Ironically, barnierubble was a contributing factor in my involvement in this forum. At the time, I had posted a couple normal questions, but didn't really "meet" anyone until I posted this

which was actually about barnierubble, though I then did not mention his name.
So, if my posts annoy you, there is yet another reason to not like barnie, he is partly to blame for my presence.

I don't get too upset if someone "mean" to me, but when it's someone I love, I have this overwhelming urge to pop open a hefty can of southern whoop-a$$.

And no, I don't believe that violence is ever the answer. I guess my whoop-a$$ would mostly involve a series of very mean looks.

Please do barnie - because you made a big assumption about a whole bunch of people you know nothing about. Since you weren't on the receiving end of #3's campaign (his owner didn't contact you to vote for his dog) - you wrongly called everyone here who decided to vote cheaters and other ugly names because you made assumptions (and you know what they say about assumptions...or do you?). You jumped up and said "hey this is wrong - *I* think #3 is the cutest and you are all morons for thinking that #6 is the cutest and by God I'm going to put a stop to it...and you were wrong. But people make mistakes...it's those who step up and admit it as opposed to being even more flip and arrogant than when they were wrong, that earn the respect of people...even here in sploofusland.

"thank you to all who have voted for my beautiful babies. However, I will no longer even be voting for them. I do not blame the site, but I believe something is being done to get massive votes in by another contestant. I dont believe you can receive 0 votes for hours and suddenly get a massive amount in 1 hour. Again, i do not blame the little shop for this and I thank them for having this contest, I just dont wish to be in a contest where 1 player is playing unfairly Mother of #6

Smears, is this the same person who asked you to get multiple votes for her dogs

You know what guys - don't bother - he gets neither the fact that his opinion is not the only opinion or the fact that he is moronic for calling others morons for not agreeing with him.

Excuse me for sounding like a witch, but we found our dog this morning who had been missing since the storms on Monday and she was not alive. Same may remember my avatar of her on top of my car with my calico - they were the best of friends. My kids and I are broken hearted and she leaves behind 3 4 week old puppies...so Barnies continued ugliness just strikes me even more badly today - so Barnie - quit being nasty to people - quit being nasty to the poor little dogs in the photos whom you have already stated you don't care about - quit telling people they are morons because they don't agree with you on the dog you think is best - and quit calling people names...grow up - go care about something important and worthwhile.

That's my last statement on the thread - because it's obvious that reason and logic don't work on this guy...I've got better things to do - so does everyone else.

By the way, Erin, did I abuse your aunt, no, of course I did not. If I said a quiz was C?ap, it is because i thought it was. I have had some far worse comments about my early attemps to set quizes, but, rather than get upset, I tried to do better quizes. I have lots of nice remarks about my 180+ quizes that I have set, as well as the few nasty ones.

I think the issue of cheating on cute dog photo contests is becoming an epidemic around here.

What are our pets learning from this, particularly the impressionable puppies and kittens?

What about the heartache of the really cute and deserving puppies robbed by this vote stacking behavior?

Dear 1mks, I did not get involved with this until 12th march, when I saw you were boating about all the multiple voting you were doing. I take it your grandchildren know all about this. As for dog 3, I have voted for it three times at most, I have not asked anyone else to vote for it, despite all the best efforts to say I have been voting for my neighbours dog. After all, I only live some 20000 miles from the owner of dog 3. I would prefer it if both dogs were disqualified, but that is hardly likely to happen. Get real lady, lets have some truth here.

BTW, I voted the first time because a member asked us to. I have voted each time since then because it's the best picture. All of the other dogs are just sitting there. The two little dogs in No. 6 are running towards the camera and you can see bits of snow flying in the air, making this an "action" photo. To me that's a lot more appealing and shows more personality than a posed photo.

So take your BAAAA baaaaack.

Serious Barney? You never have a nice thing to say here. Not about people's quizzes, their opinions, not one thing. Every post I have ever read of yours, you are either acting like a tosser, stirring somebody's pot ... or you are just a tosser. I won't speak for anyone else, but you can guarantee I am far from alone on this one. Act your age Barney, not your IQ. We are all just a wee bit over your sarcasm and negative comments, even if you think its a joke. Joke's on you 99% of the time. Get over it and move on ... That's what we usually do. The people here are generally all good. Why keep spoiling it by revving up whoever gets in your way?! Anyway, enough time wasted on even responding to your bone idleness. Peace out!

Found this description on "Flame Warriors". It reminds me of a few people on Sploofus lately. Thank God it describes only the minority!

Jerk is sarcastic, mean, unforgiving and never misses an opportunity to make a cutting remark. Jerk's repulsive personality quickly alienates other Warriors, and after some initial skirmishing he is usually ostracized. Still, Jerk is very happy to participate in electronic forums because in cyberspace he is free to be himself...without the risk of getting a real-time punch in the mouth
