OK I'vew got too much time on my hands. I looked at the record of the the top 20 in sploofus, over the last month, to see how they did on challenges and wagers.
There was an average of 3 successful wagers a month.
A grand total of TWO u8nsuccessful wagers (you know who you are!) and three unsuccessful showdowns. No wonder I dont make any headway on them.

Six wagers. 5 billion each. You'd be right in there. No waiting.

Always impressed with the folks that have a lot of category stars on their profile. Having all 9 is a super accomplishment.

I have always thought that the top ten players gained most of their points on trivia wagers. Since a token is awarded after 10 questions are answered correctly they must get one about every two weeks. Then a billion point wager.

Sargon, that's exactly correct, at least for me. I don't have the time to participate the way I once did, and I'm giving Word Rounds a rest for a while, but I would never miss my Question of the day. It's my daily treat and wagering is really the only way to garner points quickly. I'm really only good at one category and will wait patiently (sort of) till it comes up. One of these days I'll take all of my points and 2.69 and splurge on a cup of hot chocolate at Dunkin Donuts.

Patiently "sort of" is the perfect description. I waited 27 days for the last one.

Wonder who's getting all our vocab questions. I've been waiting for over 2 weeks, and I think I've gotten at least 2 of each of the others.

BTW, I hadn't noticed before that some of those at the top of the Leaderboard have many many pictures uploaded to their profiles. Is that a perk you get at that altitude or is there some way others can do that? I have many many pictures of my grandkids, so hard to make these choices...

I think when I first started on Sploofus, I was about 500 down the list. I didn't think I would make it up to the top, either. Almost all of my big gains have been through the Question Of The Day wagers. I've had a pretty good record with them. I usually don't bet unless the question is one of my best subjects. I just save those questions until I get another wager token, unless it is about to expire. FYI, Questions of The Day DO expire. I discovered that the hard way after a vacation. I also had a couple of really popular quizzes some time ago. That helped to raise my base points quite a bit. I noticed that I got an extra wager token on a birthday. That was nice. Just in case you didn't know, at my level you cannot wager over 1,000,000,000 even though 10% of my points would be higher than that.

I used to do some showdowns, but I did not like the waiting to see if the other person was going to beat me. Besides, you lose points with showdowns if you start it and you lose. I just checked my stats. "You have 215 Showdown Tokens." I did a showdown a couple of days ago to see if they had changed. That was my first one in a year and a half. Showdowns are also on any subject. I know we suggested being able to trade in Showdown tokens for wager tokens about a year ago, or so. That didn't happen, as far as I know.

I was fooling around with the photos a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that I was able to upload quite a few of them. I'm not sure what happened, but I know they were doing some testing or upgrades that day. Maybe that's what happened??? That, or it is some new Platinum level benefit, or because I've been playing for so long....I didn't ask because I thought they might take them down. I do know that Sploofus does that kind of stuff from time to time (add a new feature without telling you). I don't know if they do it intentionally, or it is a computer error.

I haven't been in the forums much lately. I usually visit Sploofus around 4am my time, just before I go to work. There are few people online then and I think the computer has fewer delays then. I'm usually in a bit of a rush, so I don't check out the forums much. I haven't written many quizzes lately, either. I've been doing trivia on my TV show. That's where my questions have been going. It is surprising how many changes happen if you don't check in every so often.

Yup, I had the same thing happen to me. I didn't realize it until someone sent me an email asking me about all of the pictures. I thought the older ones were automatically deleted. I sent a support ticket and they told me that it did probably have something to do with 2.0 and that I could keep them for now, (which is good, because I couldn't possibly decide who to delete) but that there was a good chance that the extras would disappear once the kinks get worked out. Now if I could just figure out how to get extra WAGER tokens to drop into my account...hmmmm

Finally got a vocab to wager on after 24 days, during that time I went from 93 to 103 & I've dropped back 2 positions in a day. Please send another vocab my way, these tokens are burning a hole in my pocket

Philkon, loved the photos. Can I have your job?

It only took 20 years as a highway patrol officer to get it.... Actually, if you have a reasonable voice, Metro Networks / Metro Traffic is always looking for new people. They do the traffic reports on many radio & TV stations around the USA.

It is a fun job, but there is no job security in broadcasting. Since I am getting a retirement check, I can do it without worrying too much about my job.

My most recent wager (vocab of course) was for 150 mil., finally got over the billion mark after weeks of trying.
