I finished the book this morning. I really loved it!

Some of my favorite lines:
"The world outside...was full of b@$&@^#$, the number increasing rapidly the farther one gets from Missoula, Montana."

"It's no pleasure to see your wife's face on somebody you don't like."

"I finally decided to forget it, and, as you can see, I didn't."

Any thoughts on the significance of the broken bones in Paul's right hand and his father's questions about that fact?

I think it was important to his father that Paul went down fighting. There seemed to be more honor in it. I'm going to have to go dredge up my favorite quotes from this book - there are so many. Its such a shame he didn't write more.

That makes sense. I think I saw that he wrote some short stories, but I haven't really looked into it. Have you seen the movie? Is it true to the book?

I have seen the movie. The incidents are fairly true except that in the book they all take place after he is married to Jessie and in the movie, they take place before.

Of course ther's a book club - this is multi-interest web site as evidenced by the hugemongous variety of puzzles.

Read any good books lately?

We tried to get a book club going and it worked for a couple months, but it kinda faded away quickly. Maybe we all Sploofus too much?

I'd be interested in talking books with anyone. I've just been reading some light, fluffy mysteries this week. Well, I'm currently reading Agatha Christie's "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" which is in a different category.

I picked up several others at the library yesterday, including some recommended by fellow Sploofusers.

On this great new 2.0, there are groups and one is a book club group. Wander over and join in!
