Ok, bought a new puter. Bastards from Apple made the ipod one-way, in other words I can't download from my ipod into my itunes. I've tried the "free" software route, and the only one that appears to work with my completely antiquated ipod and Windows Vista only allows me to transfer 10 songs at a time. That is a WASTE.

Anyone have any software recommendations?

Use your iPod like an external harddrive and load the music files onto it (not just synching with iTunes). Then move those files onto your new computer and into your iTunes. But if the music is already on your iPod, why do you need it on another computer??

I bought a new puter. Need to download my ipod into itunes. Not into the puter (whole different story cause Apple didn't want kids buying one song off of Itunes and sharing it. Never mind the whole rest of the freakin world that just wants our songs off of our ipod and onto on our computer without having to download 200 CDs again). Have I mentioned that I HATE APPLE yet?

Ipod extensions are not like MP3 extensions, they are specific to itunes and subsequently don't work like external hard drives (my puter won't even read the music in it, it reads the other crap).

Suzer, if you link your ipod to a "library" on a puter that has no songs in it, it will erase your ipod. Basically Itunes is what runs your ipod, if you have no songs in your itunes, you're hosed because that's the "host".

I'd have to look this up, but I think you have to "authorize" your new computer because you already had an iTunes account that was linked to your old computer.

There's a way to set up your account on your new computer where it doesn't erase the songs on your iPod (i.e., your computer's hard drive overrides what's on your iPod when you do a sync. Because your new computer's iTunes file is empty, the sync forces your iPod to match the computer, and that erases the files on the iPod.)

I haven't done this before, but I think if you authorize your new computer and load iTunes software, you can set up the sync where it sync's manually, where you choose what you can transfer either from your computer to the iPod or visa versa. (One thing I'm not sure about is if you need to "unauthorize" the old computer first.)

The FAQ I looked up online showed some steps that at the end looked like you could create a file folder that you drag onto your new computer (like a batch transfer).

Did you get this to work yet?

Any luck yet Chick. If not just hold on and Mr. Fix it will get back to you either in the wee hours of the morning or tomorrow. I've read over a few "methods" online that I found but I don't think I would trust them because if they aren't right then bye bye to all your music. A couple of them seem really risky, like just hooking the Ipod up and when it starts deleting songs just click the red X and close I don't know that I would trust that. It may work great but it seems completely to simple and risky to me.

is anyone else incredibly upset with the "i"music that you pay for but really doesn't belong to you?!?!? You can only burn this song so many times, you can only do this with it or that with it, it only works on this system, blah, blah, blah, ad naseum!! No wonder the music world is in such an uproar with illegal downloading!!
