TIME RHYMES

what a pleasure to have a puzzle where you CANT rush to put the answers down; very thoughtful clues gave you just enough info....

But there is at least one where a wrong answer is FAR better than the right. More details as and when.
I've written a correction to the powers that be.

I enjoyed it too, and actually was in first place for several hours until some cheaters beat me out of it.

First time I've even been in the top ten for any length of time, and feeling fine about that, too. Hope it lasts.

Aaagh...rough stuff! The first one took me 20 letters and got me down to 3,300 points. It was a fun WP, in a masochistic way.

I loved this WP for the same reasons Garry did. I like the occasional short puzzle, and I agree that the clues were just helpful enough without giving away the answers.

I thought this was quite a clever puzzle indeed and enjoyed it a lot! I didn't understand a couple of my clues at first, but that was no fault of the puzzlemaker's. Will explain later.

I don't believe anyone with a good score had to try to solve "iffy jiffy". That one took me about 20 letters!

I did not have "iffy jiffy".

I got iffy jiffy in a jiffy but my first one stumped me, sorry old age has robbed me of the answer. Damn thief These type of puzzles are fun but can be painful, enter at your own risk

OK, here are the two clues I didn't understand at first, and yes, I felt dumb once I finally figured them out :

1. Bud 365
2. A time to pledge ... or not

For (1), I kept wondering what "bud" could possibly refer to. I thought about a flower bud. I don't like beer, so I guess that's why I didn't think of Budweiser at first. On the other hand, I have seen a zillion Budweiser commercials. It should be embedded in my subconscious! Anyway, finally I thought of "beer year" and laughed and slapped my forehead.

For (2), I kept thinking that "pledge" referred to pledge drives for PBS. It took me awhile to associate "pledge" with fraternities and sororities, but then I finally came up with "greek week."

Again, this was a super fun puzzle, and I thought the clues were great. It was my own brain short-circuiting that caused my temporary befuddlement. I really enjoy challenges like this. Thanks, Sploofishy!
