I was just wondering why Bushyfox was not credited for the correct guess on Mt. Erebus? Is there more than one mountain by that name so that "Antarctica" was a required part of the answer?

Its a bit discouraging, isn't it? I see correct answers right now in the history that just show the name of the specific picture with no indication of where they actually are. White Horse Hill? I love these games but I think some consistency would be helpful.

You're right, Lodi. Bushyfox entered "Mt Erebus", which should be an acceptable abbreviation now that capitalization and punctuation should allegedly no longer matter. I've noticed that finding the correct place and getting your answer into an "acceptable" form are two different things.

Maybe a human judge (editor) could monitor the "wrong" answers and award someone who was close, but not exact. Or tell someone that they're getting warm.

Hence, why it's all part of Beta. I'm guessing this one is going to take a little bit of work.

Larrybus, those two ideas are exactly what we have been discussing!

We know this system is not yet perfect. Currently, players who let us know they gave the right answer in a different form (before the answer list disappears) are credited with the points. We cannot change the name of the officially posted winner, nor would we ever take away their points.

This game is indeed still in BETA!

For those reasons, I posted a "bug" on this issue. If we don't report the errors we see, we won't be able to complain that they haven't been fixed.
I hope that someone who is able to do so will credit Bushyfox with her much-deserved 100,000 points. She got Mt. Erebus on the 10th guess.

I wrote Bev a message and asked that she send in a Support Ticket to see if it would be acceptable, but she hasn't been logged in since I don't think. Maybe she already did that. I hope so. I would hate for her to miss it because the list disappeared.

I got it, of course, but Bushy should have.
I genuinely didn't see her entry before I made mine.
The kudos are definitely hers.
We've been chatting and commiserating!

Alan, you had the same thing happen to you on the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Hope you at least got the 100K if you didn't get the credit.

Sympathy, schmympathy, put in a ticket and ask nicely - who knows? You might still get the points.
