BRAINTEASER

A man rode into town on Friday. He had to leave unexpectedly after just two evenings-and yet he left on Friday. How could this be possible?

Good one Barry!

Can you name the following mystery substance?

The poor always had it and yet the rich need it.
If anyone, rich or poor, eats or drinks it, they will eventually die.

One of my old favorites....

It's not my sister, nor my brother,
Yet it's the child of my father and mother...
Who is it?

Here's a difficult one for you, I got it from a cryptic crossword puzzle.
The one-word answer has seven letters, and the only clue was BORAW.

I give up...I'm easily flummoxed.

But while surrendering, here's another oldie:

A man had a clock that had stopped working. He had no other way of telling time ... no computer no TV, radio, etc.

So, when his clock stopped working, he walked down the road to a friend's house and stayed the night. When he returned he found he was able to tell time on his clock again.

What happened?

Either that or it was a sundial.

Thanks! NOW I see it!

And his clock was indeed a sundail. Hence it worked just fine the next day.

Here is an one from my dad, maybe you have heard it. A man walks into a bar and asks the bartender for a glass of water. The bartender pulls out a gun and says BANG! The man says, "thanks" and walks back out. Why?

The man had hiccups.

My favorite ever clue was so long ago I've forgotten the precise wording, but it was something along the lines of:

'Take off fish in it'

And I suspect if you are not British or at least have a decent knowledge of british second world war naval history this would be very tough.
