If I get ONE more daily question which asks for me to know something as as obscure as the percentage of a really obscure thing-will DEFINITELY NOT renew my paid membership. I know I am only one person but this site has become way beyond old computer illiterate people like myself although I consider myself far from stupid-yup this is a complaint and a DEFINITE whine but could not even locate where one submits a support ticket. I've had it!! Linda

On 2.0 there is a "Help" link at the bottom of the page which takes you to the support ticket place. I had to hunt for it too

That button is amazingly difficult to find. Do you realize what percentage of Beta 2.0 users couldn't even locate it?

So should we make all the tqotd questions easy? Or at least make them so that most people will know the answer?

I agree that a lot of the tqotd are very random and obscure, like' who in 1923 once had to tie their shoelaces during a game of tiddlywinks? (ok if that is a real tqotd then sorry) but really who would actually care about that.

To be honest, considering I am from Scotland and most of the questions on here are American based, I do alright on the tqotd, probably getting about 60% of them right.

Some though, not only do I not know I would not want to know either.

Heidi, don't let it get you down

I did once get a question that revealed that prior to 1940, all participants in tiddlywinks tournaments were required to wear loafers, so that other one would be a bad question. Be sure to report it if it comes up.

I know I am angry. Back in my "young days"-I know eons ago- we used to play a game in bars called "useless facts" They were questions that were never so obscure that folks when they didn't know used to say. "Oh, SH__" I should have know that or at least could have know that. The questions of late to me are not trivia as many are beyond the realm of knowledge for folks who even have an interest in that area=they are BS. I exempted music from my question choices as knew because of my age I would know nothing about anything "pop". IT is not a matter of making them easy-simply "fair". As I said I am only one person but am pretty much done with this game-won't quit but won't renew paid membership

I've definitely been here too long. My guess is many of the folks who posted to this thread have already written them. Justin, hope for new folks as we old ones are VERY VERY tired of the BS. Have watched people come and go-name of the game, cynical person I am-Linda

Some trivia is just too trivial.

I think I've been here longer than most - No. 64 or something like that - and it probably shows! .
And as a mere Brit, 99% of the Sports questions, in particular, are from another planet to me!
But what the xxxxxxxx?
99% of Sploofus remains extraordinary fun.
Isn't that what matters?

I wish there were a way to go into the database of TQOTD questions and cull out the questions that are answered by fewer than 10 percent of the players. I'm all for making this fair, and I realize editors can't go in and edit old questions, but it seems if there are some old questions that almost nobody gets right, you could eliminate them.

And, I'll save somebody the time of posting that to be fair you should cull out the ones 90 percent or above. Okay, I rarely see that many questions with that high a percentage of correct answers. I'm just saying that, like what Heidi suggests, you would have to be psychic to answer some of these questions. Don't think that's the point of the website, imo.

The post the editor deleted portions of was made by me-Heidi-aka Linda

Can I throw my 2p worth in here?
I've been stumped by 2/3 vocab questions and they've all been my fault.
Yes one or two number/year questions seem to have the options too close, but I think the mix of questions is just fine (which menas by definition some too easy some too hard). The best ever month totals on TQOTD suggest no one in the 44K members gets them all right; and that's makes getting the questions right more rewarding.

And if we have to lose a member or two over dissatisfaction on one or two question, well guys think of yourself as the eggs that have to be broken to make the omelet!

(Now complaining about WP errors...that's constructive)

Barry, this is certainly not the first time you have Pis__ me off-probably not the last either. No big deal losing a "few" players here and there?? Don't think so-some of those players that have left were the backbone of the game which kept it alive for a long time. I am NOT saying I am one of those folks but people like Docshy were-sure you don't remember her though-Saragon is among those who do-Linda

Thanks, Sploofizz and Sploofernatural for the explanations.

Sorry to be the wet blanket here, but I think I recall Docshy also...and although she seemed to be a nice person, I would hardly say she was the backbone of the site. She wrote about a bazillion quizzes that appeared to be copied straight from the internet. I got screwed up on several of her quizzes because the things she copied were from 'spoof' websites, which she did not realize and put them in as 'straight' info. I wrote to her about it and she answered quite rudely. A few months later, she was gone and I don't know why she left, but Linda, if you feel that it was about a sploofus issue, then why don't you just POST that, rather than posting these rather enigmatic and bitter posts ALLUDING to why she left?

Sploofizz - I'm certainly one you don't need to worry about. I can't even remember...uh....rats.

I've been here over 2 1/2 years and RARELY get the QOTD right as you can see from my Level.
Once recently I did get it right and it said "timed out"; I put in a support ticket and was IMMEDIATELY credited.
That's the breaks Linda/Heidi.

Could someone please point me to a POSITIVE post other than a whine from Ms. Linda/Heidi?

Cheese agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain.

More than likely deserved the "CHEESE" comment. The main thing I remember about Docshy and Kimmee was that they were kind to me when I was new as was Vicrowe. Don't worry about me making any critical posts for some time-look for all the positive "pat" posts you desire-Linda

Just had tom add this although I know I promised not to do so. Once the initial "warm" greetings and "hellos" to new folks have passed many folks are downright cruel unless that person is skilled and perhaps "witty"-don't believe that trait is in any way and asset to Sploofus. Okay, this time I am done with my posts for a long time-PROMISE!!

back to the QOD thing for a second. I've never been a good test-taker. I either know the material or I don't. I'm not a good guesser but some people have the knack and are able to infer or use deductive reasoning and still score well on tests even when not familiar with a topic. I think that comes into play with the QODs. It's a gift some folks have but unfortunately I'm not one of them.
