This morning's Toledo Blade asked citizens what they intended to do with their refund checks. Quite a few said they would pay bills or save it. Not exactly what the Bush/Cheney gang intended. We will use it for our annual June trip to Michigan's UP. One thing is certain,,,putting it in a passbook savings just doesn't make sense. Bank interest rates are lagging behind inflation at present so no gain there. Doubt very much if this token gesture by the morons in charge will result in any noticable boost to the economy. Friend of mine is going to stick it in an envelope and see how long it will last by using it exclusively for gas. He is in for a letdown with his Ford F-150 pickup and a 30 mile round trip to work and back.
Just wondered what the Sploofus people plan to do with it. I believe I'm accurate in my claim that Sploofusers are a "little" more intelligent that the average Joe/Jane.

An automatic dishwasher. My husband's old dishwasher has gotten dishpan hands.

A new fence for the front yard, tile for the dining room floor, and a fresh coat of paint (inside & out). I also would like my roof redone but the boss said:

1) there won't be enough money for that; and
2) if I add one more thing to his list, he's going to quit.

my first grandchild is due in June. i'm planning to buy a crib for little Bell.

one of the TV stations in Pensacola were asking people on the street yesterday what their plans were. Many said pay bills, buy groceries and fill the tank. the reporter pointed out that he didn't talk to anyone who planned to spend it on 'big ticket items'.

i've seen a few ads from car dealerships and furniture showrooms telling customers they will accept the rebate checks as downpayments or payment on their merchandise. one swimming pool business is offering a 10% discount if you use your rebate check to buy a pool.

I paid in $1200 more on April 15. It will pay half that back to my credit card.
