OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BLONDES WP

Thanks to all who sent congrats on my 5 move WP win. I don't really deserve it because I goggled Sorry, I had to do mine & hubby's income tax, no time to waste. I did know the Patricia Neal quote but not the rest. Due the fact, that most of mine were "bottle blondes" & I am a natural one, I will accept kudos for superior googling

A Fiver on a puzzle of that type is no small feat. I guarantee you're not the only Googler on it, but you're the one to do it perfectly. Huzzah!

I googled too, but I still had a tough time. I think you deserve the kudos and congratulations!

I agree - I tried finding some help by googling- but "Coug" was a real detective.
that was awesome!

Oly a real blonde would goggle at the puzzle

As a redhead, I knew this puzzle was in a foreign tongue. I didn't even try.

That is, I just did the puzzle and took my 67th or whatever place.

I'm enjoying that Freudian slip (or was it an intentional jab?) of blondes "goggling" at the puzzles I picture that kind of like a double take toward the screen with each new letter!

That's how I did today's. No google but many double takes

is google a synonym for cheat? seems to me if one doesn't have the brain power to do a wp on their own maybe they shouldn't do them at all but then again, I guess my sense of right and wrong is probably warped in some peoples estimation

Today's world requires information literacy and information seeking
skills. The ability to find the info you need and find the right answer,
in my opinion, is not that much different than the ability to recall
from memory the name of the boat in Gilligan's Island. Both require
knowing where to look.

Keith, this has been rehashed plenty of times before, but it basically comes down to this. There is no rule saying you can't google, and there's none saying you can. When we each do the puzzles, we generally do them whichever way we want to, according to how we like to take them. Other than that, you'll never get agreement from us.

Ken (almost always a non-googler)

This is the Information Age.

Taking advantage of resources is prudent and beneficial.
It helps keep my lifelong learning motivation alive.

It's fun to take and complete each puzzle. What's wrong "with a little help from my friends" when necessary? I never plan to bail out on any puzzle. [If I ever get to 0 points, I might re-consider :P) ]

Using search engines to be competitive are equivalent to an "open book" test on Sploofus Island.

I use Google constantly. A 5-move win on this one is amazing. At least one of the quotes I was given was not an exact quote, but a summary of the person's quote, so Google alone wouldn't have helped me get it in 1 move.

I don't expect agreement on this, nor do I expect I'll ever finish in the top 10 because I refuse to compromise my principles on something as trivial as trivia

I've read in other threads that editors say googling is not against Sploofus rules and is not cheating, but considered a personal choice.

Anyway, this thread is supposed to be celebrating Randy's achievement in the All About Blondes WP. How about we get back on topic?

Oh, this is terrible about a computer glitch. I apologize.

Way to go on your win. You deserve it.
